"We visited this restaurant last night (5/5/07). Based on the comments elsewhere on this site I was really expecting something quite special. I was very disappointed.
Although acceptable, the food was mediocre at best, the decoration is circa 1979 and in need of a huge overhaul. The service was friendly and helpful however. I wished we had chosen somewhere else to eat. Moral - everyone has a different idea as to what constitutes good quality interesting food so perhaps it isn't wise to trust other peoples' judgements!"

"This is a really charming restaurant. The tables and chairs are out of a Austrian tavern and there's nothing new about it - but that's its charm - for there is nothing pretentious about it either. You get warm and friendly service AND it's totally sincere.
The food is reliably good - I’ve eaten here on occasions over the last seven years and I’ve never had one bad meal. I remember once when I was slim and lithe I tentatively ordered just a green salad and sauté potatoes as a main course. Without a flicker of the eyelid they served it as if I’d ordered Langoustine.
It’s the one restaurant where I have never resented leaving a tip. It's quiet, respectful and cosy and - unlike many of the asinine eating places in London - it breathes. The ambience is of happy Italian family... of the sweetest kind."

"La dolce vita.
At Trattoria Lucca I was treated like royalty like a king in an unknown territory. The food was out of this world. In my opinion the best place to eat by a long way. Also when I ate there on a Friday night behind the bar worked the splitting image wolverine from x-men look-alike not just a look-alike a great person to talk to very down to earth and extremely funny."

""It has been there as long as I can remember, run by 3 or more generations of the Boggi family. Always a friendly place and the food is good (good value too). It moved up market about twenty years ago, being more cheap & equally cheerful in those days. There are numerous regular customers which is always a good sign.""

""Trattoria Lucca for me is the best place in London to eat. I'm a food critic and Lucca is a real taste of Italy which is hard to find in London.""
