"Food was not bad - great shame about the service!
Imagine, a vegetarian who dislikes mushroom, there was just a mushroom risotto on the menu. There was a pasta option with bacon so my friend thought she'd ask if she could order the pasta dish without any bacon. The reply was no - because the sauce was already mixed in. Understandable I guess, but the pasta dish was £12.00 and you think to yourself, I could have bought an all mixed in pasta dish from Waitrose for much less!! There was no attempt to offer any alternative or the initiatives to ask the chef if any thing else could be done.
A 12.5% 'optional' service charge was added to our bill. I was ashamed of myself for having paid it!!"

""My wife and I both had a day of work the other week so we decided to try the Engineer. Obviously, it's a very well-known Primrose Hill restaurant, but neither of us had been there before and were keen to give it a try. We shared the chicken spring roll with satay sauce and pickled vegetables for starter, and it was outstanding. I had a steak sandwich to follow and it was exactly what a steak sandwich should be, substantial, top quality meat and served with a fresher than fresh salad. My wife had a roast duck salad with, hoisin dressing and root vegetable crisps - the last of which she loves and pronounced perfect. She was also very complimentary about the salad. As it was the middle of the day, we hadn't sampled the wine list but decided to go for a pudding. Again we shared, this time a chocolate pot with a cinnamon biscuit. That was scrumptious. We're definitely going to go back for dinner.""

""Big disappointment. Prtetentious and overpriced, the food was OK but nothing special; we had to pay 2 service charges, one for the food and one for the drinks. The table we booked was right next to stinking toilets and our meal was fully invaded by the strong stench. I left feeling sick and ripped-off.""
