Baby shower for former Scary Spice - Mar 13 2007
Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown put her troubles over ex-partner Eddie Murphy aside to enjoy a baby shower thrown in her honour.
The 31-year-old singer, who is due to give birth in about a month, held the American-style celebration in Beverly Hills last week, according to People magazine.
Brown, aka Scary Spice, is adamant that comedian Murphy is the father of her unborn baby. But last year he shocked her by revealing on a TV show that their relationship was over, and saying he wanted a blood test to determine the child’s paternity.
People reported that Brown began Friday’s revelries in a bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel, getting ready with female friends before joining more than 30 guests in a private room by the tennis courts.
A source said the shower featured a cake in the shape of a woman’s pregnant belly clad in an animal-print loin cloth, and guests lapped up Dom Perignon champagne.
Brown and Murphy, 45, began dating over the summer after his divorce in April from his wife of 12 years, Nicole Mitchell.
But in December, the Dreamgirls star was asked on a Dutch TV show about Brown and her pregnancy. "We’re not together anymore," he said. "And I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir."
The same night he appeared in public for the first time with new girlfriend Tracey Edmonds at the film’s New York premiere.
Brown later released a statement insisting Murphy was the baby’s father and saying she was "upset and distressed" by his comments.
Producer Edmonds told Chicago’s Power 92 radio station of Murphy and Brown last week: "There’ll be a paternity test and if it’s his then he’ll be responsible."
Mel B slated by angry Eddie fans? - Jan 8 2007
Mel B has reportedly called police because fans of actor Eddie Murphy have been standing outside her house hurling abuse.
A police officer is now thought to be guarding the LA property after the former Spice Girl - five months pregnant with a child she says is Eddie’s - endured cruel taunts.
Mel enjoyed a whirlwind romance with the Beverly Hills Cop star before he announced in a TV interview that their relationship was over, adding that he wasn’t sure the baby was his.
Mel is now terrified of the Eddie fans who loiter by the house she shares with daughter Phoenix Chi, according to The Sun.
"She is extremely lonely in LA and her life is being made intolerable by Eddie’s fans camped outside," a friend told the paper.
"They shout insults and give her abuse all the time. The police have decided to place an officer outside to keep an eye on things."
The friend added: "So far Mel hasn’t been thinking about money - and reports that she is going to tell all on US TV are just nonsense.
"Mel just wants to hear from Eddie before she does anything so she can decide what to do about her future and that of their baby."
Mel plans to tell-all on TV? - Jan 5 2007
It seems that Mel B wants revenge on former lover Eddie Murphy - and now she plans to reveal the results of her unborn baby’s paternity test live on television.
The Hollywood actor, 45, dumped the former Spice Girl before Christmas on Dutch TV, demanding she has a DNA test to prove the child is his.

Mel moved to London in an attempt to break into the entertainment business. She answered an advert in entertainment publication The Stage, went to the audition and was selected because of her voice and good looks to be part of the Spice Girls who as we all know, went on to dominate the charts all over the world. Her up-front attitude and in-your-face style has won her a huge gay following.
Now more famous for her boob job (removed after leakage) and pierced tongue (removed when the hole got too big) than her musical talents, Mel’s post-Spice Girls career is in freefall and she’s now desperate to become a TV presenter before it splats. A former Spectacle Wearer of the Year who bites her toenails and detests all forms of salad, Mel says her ideal man would be ’zany’. Let’s hope she chooses more wisely than ex-husband Jimmy ’Gold Card’ Gulzar, her former backing singer who is said to have tearfully serenaded a close male friend with I Will Always Love You at their wedding. She is however the proud mother of baby daughter Phoenix Chi.
Mel B has boughgt her mum a home in Headingley, and to be even closer to her roots, Mel is considering buying herself a home in Alwoodley.
