Davina's unlikely helper - Nov 30 2007
Davina McCall has apparently revealed that she had an unlikely helper when she gave birth to her third child Chester - her daughter.
Some 14 months ago the Big Brother presenter opted for a natural birth, as she'd had with her other two kids - Holly, six and Tilly, four.
"If I'd have known he was going to be 10lb 2oz I'd have been petrified," she told the Daily Mirror.
However Holly was close to hand when the contractions started.
"She helped me out with my breathing when I was in the birthing pool," Davina explained.
"We told her she could either go to school and tell everybody the baby was coming, or be there when the baby came out.
"She said she'd stay. She was so cute, stroking my hair and helping me through contractions.
"She even asked if she could get in. But I said, 'No, it might get a bit messy. Mummy's going to start pushing, do you want to come back when the baby's born, I'm going to make a bit of noise and you might not like it?'
"She said, 'I'll watch Lazytown and come back - tell me when the baby's here.' She gave me a reason to be brave. It's good to have someone there to keep it together for. He was a big baby - but I kept thinking of Holly and she gave me a lot of courage."
Davina ’gutted’ over show axing - Oct 12 2007
Davina McCall has admitted in reports that she is "gutted" Celebrity Big Brother won’t be back on screens in the new year.
The 39-year-old TV presenter said she was upset because there are still so many celebrities she would like to put in the house, reports the Daily Mirror.
Speaking at the Pride of Britain Awards, she said: "I’m gutted, but they’ve promised me they’ll bring it back. If we can get Paris Hilton or Britney Spears, then it would be worth it."
And Davina, who remains hopeful the show will return in 2009, added: "After a break, we’ll all be gagging for it."
Celebrity Big Brother was axed from Channel 4’s 2008 schedule following a massive race row this January, when Jade Goody was accused of being a racist bully towards Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.
The show, produced by Endemol, lost its main sponsor Carphone Warehouse in the fallout.
This summer saw a toned down version of the non-celebrity version of the series.
Davina up for BB boot? - June 16 2007
Big Brother 8 could be the last for big mother Davina McCall, according to bookies who are taking bets on her being replaced as presenter at the end of the series.
The 39-year-old is on odds of 5/1 to get booted off the show, down from 12/1, after a run of money from punters, said Ladbrokes.
Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg said: "Davina could be evicted by C4 chiefs if the weight of money’s to be believed."
The BB host has been criticised in the past for being ’soft’ on contestants during their exit interviews, most recently when Jade Goody left the celebrity version of the house after causing the infamous race row in January.
Meanwhile, bookies have closed the betting for tonight’s first eviction, after Shabnam was backed into odds of 1/33.
"It’s all over for Shabnam," predicted Nick.
Greek housemate Gerry is still the favourite to win the show, on odds of 5/1, with Chanelle second on 6/1.

An anorexic in her teenage years, she sang professionally, dated Eric Clapton, appeared in a Kylie video and eventually bagged herself a job as a booker at Models One. However, the job was short lived and before long Davina found herself auditioning for a Moulin Rouge style cabaret in Paris, working as a singing waitress and running a restaurant. Upon her return to London Davina took a hostess job at a club and became addicted to cocaine, ecstasy and heroin.
Help from old friend Eric Clapton saw Davina turn her life around. She took a job presenting on MTV before being handed late night Channel 4 show God’s Gift. After moderate success as the front woman for dating show Streetmate the now established presenter was offered a job on upcoming reality show Big Brother. The rest, of course, is history.
Several other jobs have resulted in less praise - turning her hand to acting in Sam’s Game was a disaster while her own chat show was also less than well received. Meanwhile The Vault, Love on a Saturday Noght and Don’t Try This At Home have failed to reach anywhere near the success of BB.
Davina was briefly married to Andrew Leggat in 1997, however she divorced and in 2000 married Pet Rescue presenter Matthew Robertson. The couple live in Chiswick and have three children, Holly, Tilly and Chester. She is quoted as saying that if she wasn’t a presenter she’d happily retrain as a midwife - Davina’s happy suburban family couldn’t be further away from her pre-TV years. Bless.
