Cerys Matthews has said she "can’t wait" to see fellow I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Marc Bannerman.

Viewers who’d watched the budding romance between the two have started to doubt the true depth of their feelings after Marc failed to fly out to Australia to meet Cerys when she left the jungle.

As she arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport today (Monday) she insisted that her first priority had to be her children, who were travelling with her.

She said: "I’m very excited to see Marc. I can’t wait to see him. But my first priority was my children. They’re just babies and I had to sort them out first."

Asked about her hopes for a long-lasting relationship with the former EastEnders star, she smiled coyly and said: "It’s so special I just want to keep it a bit quiet."

She said she was "excited" to be home and was pleased to have taken part in "a really fun programme".

She said she and the children will return to her home in Wales today and refused to divulge whether she had any plans to meet Marc.

Actor Christopher Biggins was crowned King of the Jungle after winning the ITV reality show. He beat Janice Dickinson, the self-proclaimed "world’s first supermodel".

Cerys Matthews has told of her love for fellow I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here star Marc Bannerman.

Viewers were gripped by the pair’s growing love affair as they cuddled beneath the Australian stars, despite former EastEnders star Bannerman having a girlfriend.

Matthews, who found fame as lead singer with the band Catatonia, told the News of the World she was in love with Bannerman and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.

Actor Christopher Biggins was crowned King of the Jungle after winning the ITV reality show, beating self-proclaimed "world’s first supermodel" Janice Dickinson.

Matthews told the News of the World: "I’m in love with Marc and I think he feels the same. I’d like us to spend the rest of our lives together - I’ve found a soulmate and because I’m a hopeless romantic I want to be with him forever.

"We’re going to take things slowly but I’ve a really amazing feeling about us."

Matthews admitted her guilt at knowing Bannerman had a girlfriend, Footballers’ Wives star Sarah Matravers, and even though she worried about it she said neither of them could stop once they realised there was "something special" between them.

"It was an amazing feeling," she said, "We started finishing off each other’s sentences. I’d say I liked a song and he’d like the same one. We had the same opinions on things and the same feelings."

Biggins, meanwhile, has expressed delight at his new-found status as a national treasure and declared he would like his own series.

He told the Sunday Mirror he hoped his time on the show proved he was more than just a pantomime dame.
