Bono writes Spice Girls tune? - Oct 1 2007
They might seem an unlikely pairing but it seems U2 legend Bono has penned a song for pop’s latest comeback kids The Spice Girls.
The song is apparently due to be included in the girl band’s forthcoming album and they will perform the track on their world tour later this year, the Daily Mirror reports.
A source told the paper: "It might seem unusual with the Spice Girls’ pop roots and the much more rockier work of Bono but it works."
The insider added: "There’s been a bit of unease as to how the album will perform and if there’s still a solid Spice Girls’ fanbase out there. However Bono’s involvement has lifted the whole camp and he’s delighted to have been asked to add his experience."
Although the tune hasn’t yet been named, the source was adamant that Bono could turn his hand to any musical style.
"Bono is a brilliant musician and is up for the challenge. Expect the unexpected."
It is thought the new Spice Girls album could be out as early as November 5.
Spices get Versace touch - July 30 2007
Donatella Versace is reportedly designing the Spice Girls’ outfits for their comeback tour.
An insider told The Sun that the Italian designer has already drawn up sketches of the risque outfits.
The source said: "Donatella was a big fan of the girls back in the day and as soon as she heard that a reunion was on the cards she submitted her ideas.
"There will be several different ’looks’ for each of them and the clothes will be worth well over £200,000.
"She wants the girls to retain their band personas but in a much less obvious way than before. Mel C won’t be wearing ill-fitting sportswear - instead she’ll have a really sexy wardrobe. Emma Bunton will wear stunning, elegant dresses with a playful touch."
Since the band’s reunion was announced, the fivesome have added extra dates to their tour owing to the hugely popular demand for tickets.
The tour will now open on December 2 in Vancouver, Canada.
Spice Girls unveil new look - July 27 2007
The Spice Girls have unveiled a new grown-up look as they announced extra dates for their reunion tour.
Instead of kicking-off in Los Angeles, Victoria Beckham’s glitzy new hometown in California, the band will play their first comeback concert in Vancouver, Canada.
Three new dates were announced as the latest picture of the band showed that Sporty, Ginger, Posh, Baby and Scary’s trademark dress codes have been dropped for a more sophisticated image.
But none of the extra concerts are on home turf, meaning that, so far, the band are still only playing one UK date, in London, in December.
The band announced new concerts in San Jose, California, and Shanghai, China.
