Director Raza Mallal said: "We have offered [Shilpa] the part but she wanted to play the lead. We may have to consider giving her the lead but that may upset the other actress.

"Priyanka Chopra is very hot at the moment. She’s number two in Bollywood at the moment whereas Shilpa was number 10 before Celebrity Big Brother."

He added that he had been speaking to Shilpa’s PR, Max Clifford about it.

But a spokeswoman for Max Clifford said: "She’s just been sent a synopsis for the film so there’s been no discussion. It’s one of a number of requests."

The film centres around the son of a Catholic priest who must marry in 30 days or join the priesthood.

It will also star Bend It Like Beckham actor Anupam Kher and British newcomer Philip Chamberlin as the male lead.

It seems Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty is to be a guest of honour at the Princess Diana memorial concert this summer.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner will join big names such as Elton John at the star-studded show at Wembley, reports the Daily Star.

Shilpa has apparently been invited to the July 1 concert because Prince William and Harry were impressed with the way she handled herself on the scandal-packed reality TV show.

"William and Harry thought Shilpa was amazing in Celebrity Big Brother and very much hope she will take part on the big day," a source told the paper.

Shilpa’s star has definitely been on the rise since she left CBB and she has been inundated with offers.

She’s visited the Houses of Parliament and is being considered for movie roles and even her own cookbook.

It’s also been reported the star is being lined up to become the first ever face on the new Indian version of fashion magazine Vogue.

It seems Shilpa Shetty is being courted for yet another starring role after winning Celebrity Big Brother - this time as a Vogue cover girl.

The Bollywood beauty, 31, is being lined up to become the first ever face on the new Indian version of the fashion magazine, the Daily Star reports.

It is the latest in a string of rumoured deals for Shilpa - it’s been reported she could make £10 million in the next five years.

Sources at the new publication, set to be launched later this year, hope her appearance will bring in readers.

An insider told the paper: "She’s always had a massive fan base in India, but since Big Bro her popularity has shot through the roof."

Shilpa has visited the Houses of Parliament and is being considered for movie roles and even her own cookbook since she won the reality TV show in January.

Her response to the row in the CBB house won her fans around the world and she’s even due to meet the Queen next month.

It seems Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty is setting her sights on a role in the hit musical Chicago.

And British singer Jamie Pearce is apparently coaching the Bollywood beauty.

The two met at one of Jamie’s private gigs last week and have struck up a friendship.

A spokesman for Jamie’s label Cent Records said today: "He started tutoring her about ten days ago. They met when she came to a private gig of his the Tuesday before last. It has developed from that.

"It is on an ad hoc basis as she’s (Shilpa) so busy. It mainly takes place in the evenings and it is for a possible role in the musical Chicago."
