’Proud’ Osbournes to host Brits - Nov 30 2007
Husband and wife Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will host the next Brit Awards, it has been announced.
The wacky couple will present the glittering music awards bash, which is being broadcast live for a second consecutive year, on ITV1.
X Factor judge Sharon, 55, and rocker Ozzy, 58, are bound to cause trouble before the 9pm watershed, when the show goes out, with their tendency to use swear words.
Earlier this year, Russell Brand sparked controversy when he made risque references to "intimate parts of the human body", drugs, Iraq, the Queen and Robbie Williams. There were more than 500 complaints about the jokes and swearing which took place live on air before the 9pm watershed.
Sharon said today (Thursday): "Ozzy and I have been asked to host many awards shows in the past but this is by far the most prestigious and meaningful, especially for Ozzy as it’s about the music.
"Ozzy and I are proud to be Brits and are both incredibly honoured to have been asked to help celebrate the best in music."
Ged Doherty, Chairman of the Brits committee, said: "Rock ’n’ roll, glamour, humour and a touch of the unexpected. Sharon and Ozzy will bring all this to the Brits and more. I can’t wait."
The Brits take place at Earls Court on February 20, after the nominations are announced at London’s Roundhouse on January 14.
A Brits spokesman denied a previous report that Brand had been expected to return to host the 2008 show.
Sharon auctions off treasures - Nov 6 2007
Sharon Osbourne is downsizing by auctioning off more than 600 of her treasured possessions.
Highlights include the quad bike which left Ozzy seriously injured in a 2003 accident, and a pair of the Black Sabbath singer’s wire-rim sunglasses (£385).
Jewellery, memorabilia, costumes, paintings, furniture and decorative works of art are all going under the hammer in the two-day sale.
The Osbournes cleared out their Gothic-style mansion in Beverly Hills, their Malibu home and their Buckinghamshire mansion for the sale.
A portion of the proceeds, expected to top £1 million, will go to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Foundation.
X Factor judge Sharon said: "It has taken our lifetime to collect all of these items.
"Both Ozzy and I have very special memories of each and every item as it came into our home and became part of our lives.
"It is like giving up a part of us and we hope each and every item finds a very special home."
Ozzy said: "I don’t know why we are selling everything as I want it all.
"Sharon tells me that we have to, otherwise our house will f****** explode.
"As long as she does not ask me for a pair of my boxers for the auction I will support it, especially since it is helping raise funds for her charity."
The two-day auction takes place on November 30 and December 1 at the Gibson Guitar Showroom in Beverly Hills.
Is Sharon back on X Factor? - Oct 25 2007
Sharon Osbourne has reportedly met up with X Factor bosses to apologise for her behaviour on the last show, and to ask for her job back.
The 55-year-old stormed off the live results show after discovering that two of her acts were in the bottom three.
But the Daily Mirror reports that Sharon was due to meet executives last night to sort out her return to this week’s show, and has also telephoned Simon Cowell to say sorry for her actions.

Sharon also worked her magic on acts such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Coal Chamber and Motorhead, there are also rumours that she briefly worked with Queen but was sacked by Freddie Mercury.
During their long hours together Sharon and Ozzy fell in love and, in 1982, they were married in Hawaii. However, it hasn’t all been romance for Sharon, she has stuck by her husband through his drink and drugs problems, which came to a head when her husband tried to strangle her. Despite everything Sharon has stood by her man and turned her family into a hugely successful media product.
In 2002 The Osbournes aired on MTV. The show followed the lives of Sharon, Ozzy, son Jack and daughter Kelly as well as their legion of pets as they went through day to day life in California. An immediate hit The Osbournes immediately launched the family in to the limelight like never before and when Sharon was diagnosed with cancer during the making of the series she insisted filming continue.
Despite the bad luck that came with the series - both Jack and Kelly developed problems with drink and drugs during that time - there has been a silver lining for Sharon. Ok, so her self titled talk show wasn’t the hugest success in the US but her role as judge on The X Factor has launched Sharon to a whole new audience while the UK version of her talk show garnered a respectable amount of viewers.
Elsewhere Sharon has set up top rock festival Ozzfest and published her autobiography, Extreme, which sensationally revealed the levels of plastic surgery she has undergone, including lap-band surgery (which reduces the size of the stomach) and detailed her ongoing battle with bulimia. However, it is her outspoken ways which have seen Sharon hit the headlines time and time again, from hitting out at Chris Tarrant to a fued with Iron Maiden, via bitchy comments to Rebecca Loos and a neverending argument with fellow X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh.
