Scarlett denies surgery claims - Dec 6 2007
Scarlett Johansson has apparently cleared the air regarding reports that she has had a nose job.
The Oscar-winning actress was accused of the surgery by an American magazine, and has decided to speak out.
"I have always been straightforward with the press regarding my body image and I am very concerned that my fans (and perhaps even my employers) will feel misled," she reportedly said to OK!
"Thus, I feel compelled to take immediate legal action against US Weekly."
A statement from her spokesperson to the magazine read: "US Weekly's cover story regarding Scarlett Johansson and its clear implication that she has had plastic or cosmetic surgery on her nose is an outrageous and defamatory fabrication lacking any conceivable basis or proof, despite vehement denials by Ms Johansson prior to publication.
"Not surprisingly, US magazine cannot provide the dates when she supposedly had this surgery, who performed the surgery, or what was supposedly done - all because there simply is no truth to the story.
"The publication made a pathetic attempt to validate its story by using two cover photos of Scarlett that were taken years apart with obviously different make-up and lighting, and then relying on an "expert's opinion" (based solely on looking at the two photos) on what "might" have been done. It wasn't."
Scarlett: Woody and I have lots in common - Oct 10 2007
Having starred in Woody Allen’s last three films, Scarlett Johansson is being touted as the aging director’s new young muse - but it’s not a label she likes.
"We both think that term is so bizarre," she says.
"It’s not like I bring him inspiration when he’s got writer’s block at three in the morning.
"It’s just an easy working relationship and a really nice friendship. We have a lot in common."
Woody has compared her to the late Marilyn Monroe. But Scarlett isn’t so sure.
"Maybe Woody is just blinded by my shock of platinum hair or maybe it’s my body type. Honestly I don’t see the comparison," she smiles.
Unlike some of her contemporaries, Scarlett - who stars in new film The Nanny Diaries - has managed to keep a handle on early fame.
Aside from intense interest in her love life, she’s been able to keep out of the tabloids.
"I don’t think there’s any kind of preparation for sudden celebrity," she admits. "It’s not normal, it’s very uncomfortable.
"You have a one in a million chance here. Everyone is trying to get a break somehow. Any time you’re involved in a field that revolves around vanity with a high rate of failure, it can breed desperation."
Scarlett in Nanny Diaries musical? - Aug 23 2007
Could Scarlett Johansson be heading to Broadway to star in a musical version of her latest film The Nanny Diaries? Yes, if her movie co-star Donna Murphy has anything to do with it.
The pair apparently bonded on the set of the Mary Poppins-style film about a struggling babysitter in New York, and now have their hearts set on creating a stage version, reports the Daily Express.
Donna, 47, said: "There are references to Mary Poppins in the film and I’d really like to see The Nanny Diaries: The Musical. I hope they cast me in that!"
She added: "Scarlett and I love to sing and Harvey Weinstein [executive producer] wanted us to have a little duet. He would come on the set every once in a while and say ’Can’t they do a little something? You know they both sing’.
