Rodney leaves jungle show - Nov 26 2007
Rodney Marsh has become the latest contestant to be kicked off I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
The former soccer star and ex-Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson were in the bottom two from the public vote, but it was the one-time England player who was given the boot.
The footballer-turned-pundit did not, however, appear too distraught to be the fifth person to be thrown off the ITV reality show.
After his eviction, presenters Ant and Dec asked him if he would have preferred to stay until the end, to which he replied: "I would rather chew on a broken lightbulb."
Rodney also did not shy away from laying into former fellow contestant, PR guru Lynne Franks, saying: "I despise everything she stands for."
He added: "I think it is fair to say that she irritated me."
On the budding romance between former EastEnders actor Marc Bannerman and the Catatonia singer Cerys Matthews, the 63-year-old said they had made an instant connection.
"From the first second that they met, you could tell there was something between them," he said. "Even at the greeting party they were outside having coffee together.
"They just seemed to get on fantastically, they just connected."
Rodney rushed to hospital - Nov 21 2007
Former footballer Rodney Marsh has been whisked out of the jungle and rushed to hospital after falling over and injuring his leg.
The man whose sexist views have sparked rows in the ITV reality show I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! had to be helped out by some of the females in the camp.
Rodney, 63, was collecting wood for the camp together with Anna Ryder Richardson when he slipped while on a small hill.
The ex-Changing Rooms presenter helped him out before running back to fetch more celebrities from the camp.
Ex-EastEnder Marc Bannerman was first to get back to Rodney, while former model Janice Dickinson also rushed to his aid.
They helped out Rodney, sacked as a football pundit for making a joke about the Asia tsunami.
As he was helped off the scene, an embarrassed Rodney shouted: "I’m not going on a stretcher. I’ve got people watching in England.
"As a footballer you know when you’ve been injured and it’s my knee. It’s definitely gone."
An ITV spokesman said: "Rodney strained a ligament whilst collecting wood earlier this evening.
"He was attended to by medics on site and sent to hospital as a precautionary measure.
"They discharged him immediately and he is recuperating overnight under lock down conditions at a secure location."
The former Manchester City striker sparked trouble last week when he claimed he would never get on a plane with a female pilot and that women make too much fuss in childbirth.
Sexism row after Rodney jungle rant - Nov 19 2007
Rodney Marsh - the football pundit who was sacked for making a joke about the Asian tsunami - has stirred up more politically incorrect trouble in the jungle.
Marsh, 63, fuelled a sexism row by saying he would not fly on a plane unless it was piloted by men and that women made too much "fuss" about giving birth.

Alongside the likes of George Best and Peter Osgood, Marsh was one of a generation of talented players of the 60’s and 70’s. He began his career with Fulham in 1963, but after a series of injuries and a dispute with the Manager he crossed London to join QPR. During his time at Rangers the club won the League Cup, and climbed divisions from Third to First.
Marsh played for England on just one occasion in 1971 - his future with the national team ended prematurely after he made a sarcastic comment to the then manager, Alf Ramsey. In a 2005 interview, Marsh stated that Ramsey told him ‘I’ll be watching you for the first 45 minutes and if you don’t work harder I’ll pull you off at halftime," to which Marsh replied:
“Crikey, Alf, at Manchester City all we get is an orange and a cup of tea.”. He was never selected for the England team again.
In 1972 he moved to join Manchester City, where he again led the club to the League Cup final. He left the club after a disagreement with the manager and despite a brief reprise at Fulham in 76/77, the rest of his playing career took place on the fields of Tampa when he joined the Rowdies.
Following his retirement he quickly developed a name for himself as an outspoken pundit and has a number of broken professional relationships under his belt to prove it, including dismissals from both Sky Sports and Talksport due to inappropriate adlib comedy.
