A source told the Daily Mirror: "They had some terrible slanging matches over the weekend, some of the worst of their relationship. Kate is absolutely furious. She hates being made a fool of and gets incredibly jealous. She just won’t stand for infidelity."

According to the paper, Pete, due in rehab on July 16, has even pledged to go into the drug clinic early in an effort to win her back.

Another pal added: "Pete is in pieces. He adores Kate and the lifestyle that goes with being her boyfriend. He has messed her around before but she has always taken him back. But for the first time, it seems Kate really means business."

But The Metro suggests it was the other way round and Pete dumped Kate.

A friend told the paper: "Kate has been crying non-stop for days. She’s trying everything to get him hooked back on her but he has had enough of her keeping him on such a short leash."

Whichever is true, does this mean their rollercoaster relationship is finally over?

Pete Doherty and Kate Moss are no longer living together, the troubled singer has accidentally let slip during a court hearing.

The Babyshambles frontman pleaded guilty to possessing Class A and Class C drugs and driving offences at West London Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

But when asked to give his address, the 28-year-old began to give Kate’s details, before correcting himself and saying: "Actually, that has changed," according to reports.

The troubled star then apparently broke down and wept as he admitted "personal problems" had triggered his law-breaking, the Daily Mail reports.

Meanwhile, a new lock was pictured on what is apparently the heavy wrought iron gates at Kate’s North London home on Tuesday, as Pete reportedly moved back to his flat in Hackney, East London.

The singer was stopped in a car by officers in Kensington High Street, central London on Saturday May 5. A stash of cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis was found.

His lawyer Sean Curran told the court: "He had difficulties in his personal life that led to him to be caught in this situation driving his vehicle."

District judge Davinder Lachhar warned that Pete could face jail but postponed sentencing until next month, allowing him to undergo a five-day rehabilitation programme.

Pete refused to comment on his relationship as he left court, but said: "It is rehab or jail."

Pete Doherty has narrowly escaped jail after a judge decided to defer sentencing him for drugs offences on the condition that he goes into rehab to tackle his addiction.

District Judge Davinder Lachhar left the musician in no doubt he would go into custody if he failed to take up a place he has been offered on a detox programme before his sentencing on August 7.

He was told: "If you go to this place to have detox and take advantage of it then we will see what sentence is appropriate when you next come.

"But if you do not I can tell you now that you will go into custody."

Asked outside court if he would comply with the judge’s conditions, the Babyshambles singer said: "I have got no choice, have I ... It’s rehab or jail. I was going to rehab anyway to be honest with you - this is just a little push"

Miss Lachhar had said she was considering all sentencing options but postponed her decision after she was told Doherty had been offered an appointment at a rehab clinic in Harrogate on July 16 with a view to doing its five day detox programme.

She deferred sentence until August 7 on the proviso that he entered the programme and did not commit any further offences during that time.
