His head then slumps forward as he injects the drug into his right arm in the video, thought to have been taken at his Wiltshire home.
Pete in mourning for drug addiction - Nov 6 2007
Newly drug-free Pete Doherty is "in mourning" for his heroin addiction.
The Babyshambles star also admitted his chances of staying out of trouble with the law are "quite slim".
Doherty claims to be clean after his latest stint in rehab but he told the NME: "It’s hard work. I think I miss it a bit."
He added: "After years of entrenched drug abuse you have a mourning period. I know it’s a bit sad, but I’m in mourning. I’m in mourning for an armful."
Last week a judge handed Doherty a two-year suspended prison sentence, an 18-month supervision order and a 12-month drug rehabilitation order.
He admitted possession of heroin, crack cocaine, ketamine and cannabis plus driving without insurance or MOT.
It was the latest of many court appearances, and Doherty isn’t optimistic about his chances of staying out of trouble.
"It’s quite a lengthy probation requirement and drug-testing order," he said. "It might have been better to do a couple of months and have it done with, to be honest. But that’s a bit defeatist - it’s pessimistic.
"I don’t want to go to jail, I’ve had enough of all that. But the chances of me not getting arrested once in the next 18 months are quite slim really - the way the Old Bill are."
The singer now fills his days writing music, touring, sleeping and challenging his bandmates to wrestling bouts.
Pete’s band ’better’ without Kate - Nov 5 2007
Babyshambles’s drummer Adam Ficek has apparently claimed the band are a lot better off now that Pete Doherty and Kate Moss have split.
Speaking at the MTV Europe Music Awards, where the group performed their latest track Delivery, he told the Daily Mirror: "When Kate was with Pete that was all everybody cared about, and our music suffered.
"Kate was detrimental to the band. It was all about the lead singer and his girlfriend, not about the rest of the band."
Adam added that since the high profile pair went their separate ways, the band have gone on to greater success.
"Since she’s gone, we’ve surprised ourselves at how well we’re doing. We were doing well before she came on the scene.
"Pete’s much more focussed now. There’s no way we would be invited to play at MTV with the likes of Snoop Dogg and Amy Winehouse if we were how we were when Kate was still around."
Amy and Pete to perform at music awards - Nov 1 2007
The MTV Europe Music Awards are set to take place with Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty among the star performers.
Amy Winehouse is a triple nominee, shortlisted for Best UK Act, Best Album (Back To Black) and Most Addictive Track (Rehab).
Her rivals in the album category are Akon, Avril Lavigne, Linkin Park and Nelly Furtado.
Best Solo Artist will be a battle between Justin Timberlake, Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera, Mika, Nelly Furtado and Rihanna.
JT leads the field with four nominations.
The ceremony is being held this year in Munich, Germany, and hosted by rapper Snoop Dogg.
Organisers lined up a host of glamorous guest presenters including Joss Stone and model Lily Cole.
But the most eagerly awaited appearance of the night will be by Doherty and his band Babyshambles.
The troubled singer should be on his best behaviour.
On Monday he was handed a suspended jail sentence for a string of drug and motoring offences.

A long and drawn out battle with drugs, an especially fiery relationship with Croydon’s favourite daughter and any number of bust ups and arrests has made the singer/songwriter one of Britain’s most recognisable faces (all be it a screwed up, sweaty zombie face).
Born on March 12 1979 in Hexham, Northumberland and living at various times in Liverpool, Shepherd’s Bush, Coventry, Dorset, Cyprus and Russia, Pete Doherty first came to the public’s attention as one half of the singing songwriting duo who fronted Britain’s must see band, The Libertines, who kick started the country’s new garage rock scene in 2002/03.
Debauched backstage shenanigans and frantic but brilliant shows saw The Libertines hit the headlines time and time again and their debut album, Up The Bracket, shot up the charts. However, the band’s success was to be short lived and numerous problems, between Pete and the rest of the band (specifically with best friend Carl Barat - the pair met when they became flatmates in Stoke Newington) saw them part ways but not before Pete hit the headlines for drink and drug problems which caused him to steal from his bandmates to feed his habit.
It was around this time that Lisa Moorish gave birth to Doherty’s child, Astile but, rather than settling down Pete carried on taking heroin, selling his ’My Drug Hell’ stories to any and every tabloid to pay for his out of control habit before being put in to several rehab clinics (including a Thai monastery), none of which have changed his ways.
Nonetheless he has managed to forge a career on his own, first working with Wolfman on For Lovers then forming Babyshambles, initially as a way to make money for.you guessed it! Now trying to get clean with the aid of Naltroxene after an arrest for assault, which resulted in some jail time as well as a curfew and constant supervision Pete is reportedly set to marry supermodel Kate Moss.
