Pete to duet with Amy - Dec 6 2006
It’s a match made in rock and roll heaven - Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse are to collaborate on a new track.
Soulful Amy, 23, has confirmed they will write a song together, according to the Daily Star.
They have more in common than their musical talents - both hang out in the same North London watering holes, like their booze, and adore old jazz singers.
Amy explains: "Pete wanted to do a Billie Holiday cover and I was like, ’No, let’s write something together’.
"I like writing songs. He’s an amazing songwriter and I’d love to be able to say I wrote a song with Pete Doherty."
A source added: "Pete and Amy have formed a bit of a mutual appreciation society.
"It’s early stages and they’re still hammering out what label the new material will come out on.
"But, time permitting, they’ll be in the studio early next year."
Death fall at party attended by Pete - Dec 6 2006
Police are investigating the death of an actor at a party apparently attended by the rock star Pete Doherty, it was disclosed today.
The man, thought to be 30-year-old Mark Blanco, fell to his death from a second floor balcony during a party at a block of flats in Whitechapel, east London, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It is understood that the Babyshambles singer Pete had been at the party, but left before the incident.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 1am on Sunday to reports that a man had fallen from the second floor of a block of flats in Romford Street, Whitechapel.
"London Ambulance Service took the man to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. He subsequently died at the hospital.
"Officers believe they know the identity of the victim, but we await confirmation that all next of kin have been informed."
A post mortem is due to take place at the Royal London Hospital today.
The police spokesman said his death was being treated as "unexplained".
Pete fined for drugs offences - Dec 4 2006
Troubled rock star Pete Doherty was today fined £770 for possession of drugs, including crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis.
The Babyshambles frontman, 27, was also disqualified from driving for four months at a sentencing at Thames Magistrates’ Court in east London.
He had previously pleaded guilty to counts of possessing heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine, and to two counts of possessing cannabis in April and August this year.
Sentencing him, District Judge Jane McIvor told the singer, who appeared in court wearing a black coat and trousers, that the offences were not serious enough to require a custodial sentence.
The judge told the singer the punishment was about "hitting your pockets" as she handed down £200 fines for each possession of class A substances and £50 fines for each of the cannabis offences, plus costs.
Defending, Sean Curran said the possession offences were "small amounts and it is because he has an entrenched drug problem".
Mr Curran said the singer’s continued employment was "going particularly well", with an EP called The Blinding released today and a tour schedule beginning in Newcastle.
"This aspect of his life is going particularly well and he’s on the verge of signing a substantial record deal," he told the court.

A long and drawn out battle with drugs, an especially fiery relationship with Croydon’s favourite daughter and any number of bust ups and arrests has made the singer/songwriter one of Britain’s most recognisable faces (all be it a screwed up, sweaty zombie face).
Born on March 12 1979 in Hexham, Northumberland and living at various times in Liverpool, Shepherd’s Bush, Coventry, Dorset, Cyprus and Russia, Pete Doherty first came to the public’s attention as one half of the singing songwriting duo who fronted Britain’s must see band, The Libertines, who kick started the country’s new garage rock scene in 2002/03.
Debauched backstage shenanigans and frantic but brilliant shows saw The Libertines hit the headlines time and time again and their debut album, Up The Bracket, shot up the charts. However, the band’s success was to be short lived and numerous problems, between Pete and the rest of the band (specifically with best friend Carl Barat - the pair met when they became flatmates in Stoke Newington) saw them part ways but not before Pete hit the headlines for drink and drug problems which caused him to steal from his bandmates to feed his habit.
It was around this time that Lisa Moorish gave birth to Doherty’s child, Astile but, rather than settling down Pete carried on taking heroin, selling his ’My Drug Hell’ stories to any and every tabloid to pay for his out of control habit before being put in to several rehab clinics (including a Thai monastery), none of which have changed his ways.
Nonetheless he has managed to forge a career on his own, first working with Wolfman on For Lovers then forming Babyshambles, initially as a way to make money for.you guessed it! Now trying to get clean with the aid of Naltroxene after an arrest for assault, which resulted in some jail time as well as a curfew and constant supervision Pete is reportedly set to marry supermodel Kate Moss.
