Ozzy in hospital - 09/12/03
Ozzy Osbourne has broken eight ribs, his collarbone and a vertebra in his neck, after being injured in a quad bike accident.
Ozzy was at his Buckinghamshire estate, in Chalfont St Giles when the accident happened. He was rushed to hospital, where he spent a night in intensive care after having emergency surgery. This was to restore the blood flow to a blood vessel damaged in the accident.
The doctor operating on Ozzy said that the fractured vertebra was now ’entirely stable’ and that the blood supply to his left hand and arm had been restored.
Ozzy’s pills - 08/12/03
The Ozzy we saw stumbling around on The Osbournes had more to do with the pills he was on at the time, rather than a legacy of his drug taking days.
Ozzy said he was taking up to 42 tablets a day during the making of The Osbournes. He said ’"I was wiped out on pills. I couldn’t talk. I couldn’t walk. I could barely stand up. I was lumbering about like the Hunchback of Notre Dame.’
He said he turned to the pills to try and cope with the renewed fame the TV show had brought about. Then when Sharon was ill, he turned to yet more pills, and the result was what we saw on the show. However, Ozzy has since fired his docter, and is doing much better without the pills.
I’m Cured! - 24/10/03
Ozzy Osbourne has lost the shakes after successfully having treatment in America.
Ozzy has had a tremor ever since his twenties, and a number of people have thought this was to do with his drink and drug problems when he was younger. It was also thought to be an onset of Parkinson’s’ disease. However, Ozzy has told MTV that it was a hereditary condition, and he has been having treatment in Boston to see if it can be cured. This treatment leaves the sufferer with a dry mouth, which meant Ozzy had to cancel his European tour. But the good news is he now says he is cured!
"This doctor is my guardian angel. When this guy put this medication in my vein, it was like someone had turned this machine off in me. It was like instant, man! I’m taking one medication now for this tremor. And now I haven’t got the tremor."
Ozzy’s cancelled tour - 17/10/03
Ozzy Osbourne has had to cancel his European Tour so he can receive treatment for the nervous tremors that are ’destroying his life’.
Doctors have ruled out Parkinson’s Disease, but the singer has been undergoing treatment for an involuntary shuddering which has become markedly worse over the last two years. Ozzy said ’I was at the point where it felt as if this problem was practically destroying my life along with my self-esteem’
He went on to say that it was coming under control with medication, but one of the side effects is suffering a dry mouth, which affects his voice. The tour is being back dated for next year. Hope you get better soon, Ozzy.
