Baby Richie-Madden may still be in his mum's tummy, but the upcoming offspring of Nicole Richie and her boyfriend Joel Madden is set to be one of the trendiest babies around.

Mischa Barton has apparently revealed her gifts for the baby, who is due in January.

"I got her a bunch of rocker tees for the baby, with different types of logos of rock bands on them," the 21-year-old actress told People.com.

"And she loved them! She is going to have the most fabulously dressed baby, I am sure, because she is so stylish herself."

It seems Mischa, who is the face (and feet) of Keds shoes, also revealed that they were impulse buys, saying: "They were so unique. I just loved them!"

And the former OC star reportedly added that she had to shop, not knowing the baby's gender.

"She actually doesn't know what she is having. She wants it to be a surprise," she added.

Nicole hosts surprise baby shower - Dec 4 2007
Nicole Richie and partner Joel Madden apparently hosted a surprise baby shower for 100 expectant and new mums in LA, handing out more than 200,000 dollars worth of gifts.

The couple threw the shower as part of the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation, which they have set up to help families in need, reports People.com.

"The looks on their faces were priceless," Nicole told reporters after the shower.

"Some of them didn’t even believe us [when they saw the gifts]. They thought we were joking."

The Richie Madden Children’s Foundation was an idea the couple had when they found out they were expecting their first baby.

"We grew up in Los Angeles," said Joel, singer for band Good Charlotte.

"And we want our child to be a part of the community, and to know that there’s a responsibility to help the community.

"Sometimes people don’t want to believe that me and Nicole are just a young couple having a baby and we’re really excited. We don’t really get to share our lives with people. It’s nice to connect with people on a real level."

Amongst the goodies given to families in need were Baby Bjorn products, cribs, mattresses and toys from Fisher-Price.

"Everything they got, we got," Nicole says, "so everything that will be in their nursery, will be in our nursery."

Pregnancy helped Nicole bond - Nov 28 2007
With the birth of her first child just two months away, Nicole Richie says her pregnancy has helped her bond with her biological mother - and brought her closer to dad Lionel.

"When I found out that I was pregnant, there was just something inside of me that felt a responsibility to mend any issues that I’ve had with my parents in the past, because, listen, I’ve put them through a lot," she told Access Hollywood.

The 25-year-old socialite added that Lionel is excited about becoming a granddad.

"[The baby] is all he talks about, actually," she smiled, adding that he doesn’t want the baby to call him grandpa.

Despite reports that many of the gifts Nicole and her boyfriend Joel Madden received at their recent baby shower indicated she was expecting a boy, Nicole insisted they are waiting to find out the sex of the baby.

"I like to know everything," she says, "If he wasn’t at every doctor’s appointment, I probably would have found out by now just behind his back and not told him."

However, it looks as if Nicole and Joel will hold off their planned wedding until their baby is born.
