Once inside, Naomi, who was sentenced for hurling a mobile phone said to have been a jewel-encrusted BlackBerry which bashed housekeeper Anna Scolavino on the head, will be issued with an orange reflector vest and a pair of work gloves.
She is free to choose the rest of her outfit but sanitation department deputy chief Albert Durrell has advised the 36-year-old that jeans and trainers would be best.
Glamorous footwear by the likes of Manolo Blahnik was not a good idea, he added, and she should also wear a baseball cap or bandanna to protect her hair.
The Streatham-born beauty, who will also have to surrender her BlackBerry and mobile while she is working, has reportedly pledged to auction off her cleaning clothes to raise money for Nelson Mandela’s charity.
Naomi pleaded guilty in January to a misdemeanour charge of reckless assault.
Naomi to auction off cleaning clothes - Mar 14 2007
Naomi Campbell reportedly plans to auction off the boots and jeans she wears as she mops floors in New York to raise money for Nelson Mandela’s charity.
The supermodel will spend five days sweeping up inside a sanitation department warehouse next week as punishment for hurling a mobile phone which hit her housekeeper on the head.
The star insisted she had no problem with the work and said a court-ordered anger management class she attended at the weekend had been a "great experience" that taught her how to walk away from situations that might provoke her temper.
"I’m from a Caribbean family," Naomi told the New York Daily News.
"My grandmother raised all of us. I had to wash my underwear and my socks after school; I had to clean the table; I had to Hoover."
She added: "I loved the class. The teacher was great. I love to learn, to learn new things - and I did.
"The teacher talked about prevention.
"Like in my case, if someone does something to me, I have to stop and ask myself, ’Is it worth the bother?’ I learned I just have to step away from the situation."
Naomi, 36, who also said she was thinking about motherhood, added that she doesn’t blame anybody else.
She added: "Blame deflects you from looking inside yourself. I take full responsibility for what I’ve done."
Naomi told the newspaper proceeds from the auction would go to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.
Naomi happy with cleaning work - Mar 11 2007
Naomi Campbell has admitted that she’s "happy" to carry out her community service as a cleaner at the New York Sanitation Department.
Speaking to People magazine about her sentence, she reveals: "I never spoke about what I wouldn’t do and what I would do - I’m just doing what I’m told to do and that’s it."
The 36-year-old was ordered to mop floors for five days for throwing her mobile phone at her housekeeper.
It’s not the first time the supermodel has got into trouble for her temper, but she appears keen to move on, saying: "I’ll get on with my life and it’s over."
Naomi is also getting more charity minded. She tells the magazine that after upcoming New York Fashion Week, she intends to empty our her cupboards and sell her togs and give the money to a good cause.

She was raised by her grandparents since her mother, the ambitious Valerie, was making her way around the world with an exotic dance troupe. At 13, precocious Naomi started at the Italia Conti stage school. Two years later she was ’discovered’ in Covent Garden by a modelling scout.
Recently, she has been seeking anger therapy - her American agency fired her on the grounds that she was ’unbearable’ and published the following statement: ’No amount of money or prestige could further justify the abuse she has imposed on our staff and clients.’ She recently pleaded guilty to assaulting her assistant with the mobile phone she normally keeps clamped to her ear. Naomi had a top 10 hit with Babywoman in Japan and has a reputation for being always late.
She has been romanced by a string of men including Mike Tyson, Robert De Niro, Joaquin Cortes and was rumoured to have had a fling with Joseph Fiennes. She is currently dating Italian millionaire Flavio Briatore.
As well as modelling and a stab at a music career she has also penned a novel entitled Swan (1995) and has appeared in the film Pret-a-Porter, she also appeared in an episode of Absolutely Fabulous and once was a pupil in Grange Hill. Naomi has also just launched her own perfume. She also has an apartment in Chelsea. (written 2001)
