Bannerman arrested after Cerys date - Dec 11 2007
Actor Marc Bannerman was arrested following a confrontation with paparazzi after they followed him and Cerys Matthews to a pub.

The former EastEnders star became embroiled in a row with photographers after a meal with his fellow I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! contestant on Friday afternoon.

The actor travelled to Cerys Matthews’ home in west Wales last week after forming a close relationship with her in the Australian jungle.

After leaving the television show, Matthews, who found fame as lead singer with the band Catatonia, confessed she was in love with Bannerman and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.

Bannerman and another man were released on police bail pending further inquiries into the incident outside the Ship Inn in Trefin, Pembrokeshire, west Wales.

Meriel Murphy, who owns the Ship Inn business, said Matthews was in a "distressed state" following the confrontation.

"It was horrible because they had such a nice time in the pub," she said.

She added: "One minute everything was fine and they were having a meal and when they tried to leave they couldn’t get out.

"There were around 15 photographers around the car blocking them in the car park and they refused to let them out.

"Cerys was very distressed and I had to fetch a car to take her home. I think Marc Bannerman kept his cool very well. He got out and remained polite and said, ’For God’s sake, let us go’ but they were just laughing and making fun."

Jilted Sarah reveals baby wish - Dec 5 2007

Marc Bannerman’s jilted girlfriend Sarah Matravers has spoken out about her devastation over the very public end to their relationship and apparently admitted they had even discussed starting a family.

The 33-year-old actress had been with Marc for two years before he joined ITV1 reality show I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and apparently fell for Cerys Matthews on camera in just a matter of days.

A tearful Sarah, who met Marc on the set of Footballers’ Wives: Extra Time, told Grazia: "Two weeks ago, Marc and I were laughing together, snuggling up in front of the fire. I was even willing to give him the biggest commitment a woman can give - a child."

Last week, Sarah moved out of the north London home she shared with Marc and is apparently staying with a friend.

She added: "In the space of a fortnight, I’ve seen him cheat on live TV. Now I’m struggling to accept that the man I loved is not the person I thought he was; that I won’t be pregnant in the next couple of months; that I’ve had to move out of my home...

"The hardest thing of all was seeing him fall for Cerys. I think it would have been easier to cope with if it was just sexual chemistry - but seeing them staring into each others’ eyes, seeming so intimate, that was impossible," she said.

Ex-EastEnder Marc admits he’s a rat - Dec 4 2007

Marc Bannerman admits: "I’m a rat", in new footage from I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Speaking after leaving the jungle, where he got friendly with singer Cerys Matthews, Marc says: "I just developed feelings for someone in there and I’ve got a missus at home, I’m a rat. I can’t look for a scapegoat - the buck stops here."
