Lindsay keeps dancing into films - July 23 2007
Her personal life may be in turmoil, but Lindsay Lohan still has hopes for her film career.
According to People magazine, the troubled actress is learning to dance the tango - with her ankle bracelet firmly in place - for a new film role.
An official announcement is expected this week for Lindsay, who faces charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run following a car crash in May, to co-star in the new romance, Dare To Love Me.
The film tells the story of Tango legend Carlos Gardel, who was involved in a steamy romance with a prostitute, only to have his world shattered by a bullet that kills her and leaves him crippled.
Set in Buenos Aires in the 20s, there is no word yet on what role the 21-year-old party girl will play.
But sources say she began taking tango lessons on Friday for an hour a day - while wearing the alcohol-monitoring anklet she’s had on since leaving rehab.
Things have been a bit rockier for another film, dark comedy Poor Things, in which she is due to co-star with Shirley MacLaine.
But despite stories that the movie has been shelved, producer Robert Hickman insisted: "The film has not been cancelled. Any rumours saying differently are just that - rumours."
Lindsay surrenders to police over crash - July 20 2007
Lindsay Lohan has turned herself in to police in connection with a May car crash.
The 21-year-old, accompanied by her lawyer, surrendered at the Beverly Hills Police Department in California shortly after 4pm local time on Thursday to be fingerprinted and photographed, Officer Brian Ballieweg said.
The star’s blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was above California’s legal limit, he added, although he did not disclose how high it was. She was also under arrest on suspicion of misdemeanour hit and run, he said.
Lindsay was released without bail, and a court date was scheduled for August 24.
The actress and two other adults were in her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 convertible when she lost control and crashed into a curb and shrubs on Sunset Boulevard on May 26, police said.
She got into a second car and was driven to a hospital in nearby Century City for treatment of minor injuries, police said. The other people in her car were not hurt.
Officers received an emergency call about the accident and traced her to the hospital. They said at the time she had been arrested for investigation of driving under the influence.
Last week, the actress checked out of a rehabilitation centre after a stay of more than six weeks. It was her second stint in rehab this year. She said in January she had checked into rehab for substance abuse treatment.
Lindsay leaves rehab - July 16 2007
Lindsay Lohan checked out of a Malibu rehab centre at the weekend and reportedly headed for Vegas.
The Mean Girls star left the Malibu clinic on Friday, according to People magazine’s website, and was then reportedly seen partying on Saturday night at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas with several friends.
She’s unlikely to be hitting the booze though, as the 21-year-old has volunteered to wear an alcohol-detecting ankle bracelet according to her publicist.
"In part she is wearing the bracelet so there are no questions about her sobriety if she chooses to go dancing or dining in a place where alcohol is served," agent Leslie Sloane Zelnik said.

Born to a wealthy family Lindsay was nonetheless put to work from an early age. At three she was signed to a modelling agency and quickly built up a portfolio of work with the likes of Toys R Us and Calvin Klein Kids. As a teen she appeared in numerous magazines such as Elle Girl and Bliss and in television commercials for Jell-O among others.
At ten years of age Lindsay bagged a role on American soap Another World which she soon abandoned when offered a big screen part in the remake of The Parent Trap in which she played twins. The part brought her to the attention of filmmakers throughout Hollywood and ensured future parts would roll on in.
Made for TV movies and a short lived sitcom part followed before Lindsay, then sixteen, was offered another cult remake - Freaky Friday - alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Two further teen flicks followed, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and the Clueless-esque Mean Girls. The success of the two movies cemented Lindsay’s status as Teen Queen. Closely followed by Herbie: Fully Loaded Lindsay hoped to make the transition to adult film star smoothly however 2006’s Just My Luck was not well received. More serious roles are set to follow in Georgia Rule, Speechless, A Woman of No Importance and The Best Time of Our Lives.
As well as acting Lindsay had taken the opportunity to showcase her musical skills in her films and before long she was taken under the wing of Mariah Carey’s ex Tommy Mottola. Her debut album, Speak, was released in 2004 with the single Rumours earning critical acclaim. 2005’s A Little More Personal included a dramatically intimate track aimed at her father who had spent much of Lindsay’s life in prison. She is currently working on a third album.
Since 2003 Lindsay has been regular tabloid fodder beginning with a rumoured feud with fellow teen actress Hilary Duff. Her weight has been a serious issue, with the actress admitting that she had ’nearly died’, before dedicating herself to getting her shape back. She has also gained the reputation of girl about town, partying hard with the likes of Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton whilst dealing with a run of bad luck which has included three car crashes and some rumoured illnesses.
