Keira Knightley
- Profession: Actress
- Place/Date of Birth: Teddington, Middlesex, 26 March 2020
The Pirates Of The Caribbean star told the Daily Express she suffers from homesickness, saying: "I don’t really get out much when I’m on location. You’re working and alone. You’re not with your friends."
She added: "I still find separation from my family and friends really difficult."
With a seemingly endless round of premieres and award ceremonies to attend, you could be forgiven for thinking the life of a Hollywood siren was all glitz and glamour.
But Keira says the reality of making films is very different.
"All I do when I’m working away is sit in my hotel room and learn my lines, get room service and watch TV end-to-end until my brain melts out of my head!"
Keira’s romance on the rocks? - Nov 27 2006
Are lovebirds Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend going through a rough patch?
The Daily Mirror reports the pair - who have been dating for 10 months and always seem to be deeply in love - have been having a few differences.
"Keira’s a really loving girlfriend but she’s so insanely busy with work it’s untrue," the source said.
"She’s done everything in her power to make Rupert feel important but he still complains that he doesn’t get enough attention, and it’s causing real friction.
"While Keira was filming the last Pirates Of The Caribbean movie she flew her mum out as they’re very close and she wanted to spend some time with her.
"Rupert often turned up as he was filming nearby but he complained that they didn’t get enough time alone."
The 21-year-old has also apparently turned down Rupert’s offer to move in with him, causing more tension.
The source added: "She loves him but they’ve had intense talks about where it’s going.
"She’s too young to settle down and she knows that work has to be her priority. It’s up to Rupert to decide whether he can deal with that - if not - their days are numbered."
Keira’s last days as pirate - Nov 10 2006
Keira Knightley will shoot her last scene as pirate wench Elizabeth Swann for the Pirates Of The Caribbean films today.
And the stunning actress has told movie bosses she doesn’t want to be part of any more swashbuckling sequels, according to the Daily Mail.
The cast of Pirates, which includes hunky Johnny Depp, have been filming the last instalment At World’s End on and off for the past year.
The previous two movies - Curse Of The Black Pearl and Dead Man’s Chest - were huge box office hits and made Keira an international star.
"I have been playing this girl since I was 17," Keira told the paper.
"I’m 21 now and I’m onto very different things, but it’s fun to try to invest Elizabeth with some rebellious spirit."
Keira’s next project is Joe Wright’s drama Atonement, in which she stars with James McAvoy and Brenda Blethyn.
She will star as Cecilia in the 1930s-based film - adapted from a Ian McEwan’s hit novel - which should hit our screens next year.
Keira greatest-ever starlet - poll - Sept 17, 2020
Keira Knightley has been rated the greatest-ever Hollywood starlet. The British beauty was chosen ahead of Scarlett Johansson and movie legend Judy Garland in the survey of film fans. Still only 21, the Pirates Of The Caribbean actress already has one Oscar nomination under her belt for her performance as Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice.

She starred in The Princess of Thieves in ’01, and then in Bend It Like Beckham in ’02, where she played the role of a football-obsessed teenager alongside the lead actress Parminder Nagra. Because she had barely touched a football until then, Keira trained intensely for three full months, practicing tricks and ball handling, Brazilian style. As Bend It Like Beckham gained in popularity, so did Keira, making a name for herself.
It was not long before Jerry Bruckheimer, the famous Hollywood producer of blockbusters like Pearl Harbor, chose her for a leading role in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (’03), starring alongside Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. The Pirates of the Caribbean went on to become a huge international box-office hit, bringing Keira’s fame to an international level.
Her latest appearance is as Guinevere in the new Disney adaptation of King Arthur’s tales. Hollywood seems to have taken a liking to her. As have Glamour magazine’s ’fashion analysts,’ who listed her as the fifth best-dressed female celebrity world-wide (Kate Moss came in number one, but she’s got about a decade of experience under the belt, if nothing else).
