O’Meara hoping to move on after BB - Mar 16 2007
Pop star Jo O’Meara stepped out in public for the first time since the Big Brother race row when she went to a gala performance in aid of BBC Comic Relief.

O’Meara put on a brave smile for the photographers as she arrived to see Rik Mayall as Alan B’Stard in The New Statesman at the New Wimbledon Theatre in south-west London.

As she went in she told the Press Association: "Comic Relief has always been important to me, it’s something I’ve always done, as a band with S Club (7), and while solo. It’s a nice thing to get involved with."

She said she hoped the row over the supposed attitude of herself and Jade Goody to Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty had now run its course.

"I think it’s time for me to move on, and concentrate on getting back to work, and I hope the public will feel the same way," she said.

"I’ve apologised, I’ve said sorry if I offended anybody, but nothing racist went on in the house - it was bad editing."

The play was on its first night of a national tour, which takes in 14 other venues, finishing at Milton Keynes on July 14.

Jo and Cleo evicted from CBB house - Jan 26 2007
Jo O’Meara and Cleo Rocos were the two celebrities evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother (CBB) house by the public.

Former S Club 7 singer Jo, who was involved in the race row which saw Jade Goody and her mother bullying Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, had been the favourite to be evicted.

In a twist unknown to the housemates, actress and writer Cleo was also booted out.

Shilpa Shetty, Dirk Benedict and Ian Watkins - "H" from Steps - were saved from eviction.

The evicted pair emerged from the BB house to a mixture of boos and cheers after the result of the public vote was announced.

The eviction comes after Big Brother bosses were forced to apologise when a blunder meant they had to scrap eviction votes.

Fans were offered refunds after the fiasco, which could have led to Shilpa being evicted by mistake.

Words alongside her number wrongly stated viewers should ring it to save her, instead of boot her out.

Jo’s sister says she’s not racist - Jan 19 2007
Jo O’Meara’s sister has joined the CBB bullying row, saying the 27-year-old’s behaviour is completely out of character.

Julie Sullivan said she did not recognise her sister from what she had seen on television - but insisted the former S Club star was not racist.

She told GMTV: "We’re all shocked. It’s just not her character at all. She’s just not like that. At home she’s very down to earth, she’s a very timid little girl."

She added that Jo had only agreed to go on Celebrity Big Brother for the money.

"Jo was really nervous about going in there because of Jade. And she’s gone with that - rather than be on the victim’s side, she’s gone with the bullying, which is not right."

She said her sister would be "really, really upset" when she left the house and saw what she had done.
