In her dream, which will be analysed carefully by fans for clues on what really happens in the last book, giant waitresses from the cafe where she writes loom threateningly above her.

She says on her website: "I’m now writing scenes that have been planned, in some cases, for a dozen years or even more.

"I don’t think anyone who has not been in a similar situation can possibly know how this feels. I am alternately elated and overwrought.

"I both want, and don’t want, to finish this book," she adds, reassuring her expectant fans "don’t worry I will".

The author says: "For years now, people have asked me whether I ever dream that I am ’in’ Harry’s world.

"The answer was ’no’ until a few nights ago, when I had an epic dream in which I was, simultaneously, Harry and the narrator."

The author recently hinted that two characters are expected to die in the finale, saying: "We are dealing with pure evil here.

"They don’t target extras do they? They go for the main characters - well I do."

’Harry Potter’ author JK Rowling earned a whopping £77 every minute of last year -Aug 14, 2006

The writer, who is currently penning the seventh and final book of the hugely popular series, raked in £41 million in 2005, over £100,000 a day. The huge sum has been revealed by Forbes magazine in its list of the world’s top earning celebrities. Despite her incredible income, Rowling was only placed ninth on the list.

Hollywood director Steve Spielberg topped the who’s who of star money-makers with earnings of £180 million for the year, £342 per minute. US DJ Howard Stern - famed for his outrageous on-air behaviour - came second pocketing £163 million for the year, £311 a minute, while ’Star Wars’ creator George Lucas came third with earnings of £127 million in 2005, £242 per minute.

Oprah Winfrey, who raked in £122 million, which calculates as £240 per minute, and comic actor Jerry Seinfeld, who earned £54 million, £103 a minute, rounded out the top five. Forbes researcher Hannah Clark was not surprised by the amount of directors and authors who made the top ten. She said: "While celebrities grab headlines, it is rarely actors who make money. If you want to keep on making money long term, you need a winning franchise - and JK Rowling is proof of that."

Rowling kills off two characters - June 27, 2020
JK Rowling will kill off two characters in the final Harry Potter book. The author of the bestselling series, which follows the adventures of boy wizard Harry, revealed the shocking finale during an interview on TV yesterday (26.06.06).

She told chat show hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan on their self-titled show: "The final chapter is hidden away, although it’s now changed very slightly. "One character got a reprieve, but I have to say two die that I didn’t intend to die." The mum-of-three wouldn’t reveal the victims’ identities for fear of reprisals, saying: "I’m not going to commit myself, because I don’t want the hate mail or anything else."

Biography

J.K. (Joanne Kathleen) Rowling was born in Chepstow, Gwent in 1965. Her writing career started at the age of six when she wrote a story called Rabbit. She left Chepstow for Exeter University, where her course included one year in Paris.

As a post-graduate, she moved to London to work at Amnesty International doing research into human rights abuses in Francophone Africa, she married and divorced and was left holding the baby. The tale of how Rowling scratched out her first book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in an Edinburgh caf? while surviving on social security is well known.

When Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was bought and published by Bloomsbury in 1997 her life changed dramatically, the Harry Potter series has since then won numerous awards and become a tremendous success around the world. Warner Brothers have bought the rights to the first two books for a "substantial seven figure sum".

Now you can watch the books on the silver screen, starring Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger and featuring Robbie Coltrane, Zoe Wanamaker and John Cleese. Learn this, or face ridicule from adults and children alike.
