Hugh attacked - Jan 05
Hugh Grant stung by jellyfish in Barbados. The Brit actor was holidaying in Barbados with his new love, Jemima Khan, (see our photos) when he was stung by a jellyfish who, we can only surmise, wasn’t a fan of Richard Curtis’ work. No stranger to unwanted attention, Hugh apparently took the sting in his stride.

Mrs Grant? - October 04
Hugh Grant is all set to propose to Jemima. According to reports Jemima Goldsmith could be the woman to finally get playboy Hugh Grant up the aisle. According to sources close to the couple Hugh has plans to get down on one knee very soon, having told his father that he had never been so in love. Jemima has also been spilling the beans on their relationship, telling friends that she has never been happier and that she wants the world to know how in love she is. But don’t go buying wedding gifts just yet, Jemima says she wants to let the dust settle following her split from Imran Khan before she starts shopping for dresses.

Hugh’s cleaning problem - August 04

Hugh Grant has revealed that he used to drink cleaning products as a child.

The actor made the bizarre revelation in a recent interview, stating "I used to drink a lot of Parazone, which you used to clean lavatories with. That was a serious worry for my parents." Hugh admitted that he was lucky not to have become seriously ill as a result. We wonder if he’s pulling our leg.

Jemima loves Hugh - August 04
Jemima Goldsmith is rumoured to be dating Hugh Grant.

Jemima has been spotted out and about with Hugh and according to those in the know this is the real thing. A source close to the actor told press that it had taken Hugh a long time to find someone who matched up to his ex-girlfriend, Liz Hurley, but it seems that he has found someone who compares to Liz in every way. "She’s posh, beautiful, intelligent and very witty - just like Liz." The source commented, also pointing out that these comparisons were no coincidence. Lets just hope that Hugh won’t mess this one up then.

Golf or girls? - March 04
Hugh Grant is so taken with playing golf that he has no time left for a relationship.

He was asked by TV Movie magazine whether he was with anyone at the moment, but Hugh replied ’No, I play golf.’ "And I’m quite embarrassed to say I don’t think of anything else."

Maybe he just likes practicing his swing?

Hugh is ’cockahoop!’ - 15/11/03
Is Hugh Grant the only man fighting to save the battle of the English Language? He regularly includes words in his speech that have all but disappeared within the mists of time - he described his feelings after winning an award for ’excellence in film’, as ’cockahoop’.

He was in Los Angeles to receive the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for ’excellence in film’ and was presented with it by his Two Weeks Notice co-star Sandra Bullock

Hugh said the award was "very nice and unusual for me, I don’t really get many prizes and when I do I’m cockahoop".

Good for Hugh - but even better - do you know any obscure words that need saving? I am sure Hugh would revive them for you - I think famished should make a come back personally - much better than saying you are merely hungry!

Biography

Hugh Grant was born on September 9, 1960. His father James was a carpet salesman, mother Fynvola was a teacher. Hugh was educated in New College, Oxford University where he majored in literature. Although he was first noticed in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Hugh’s movie career took off when he starred in Merchant-Ivory’s Maurice, for which he won the Venice Film Festival’s Best Actor prize.

In 1995, Hugh became the scandal of the year by hiring a prostitute, Divine Brown, to perform certain acts in the privacy of his automobile. His girlfriend, Liz Hurley was not amused and although she stuck by him through the scandal they finally called it quits in 2000 after 13 years together. The Divine Brown incident could well have been the making of Hugh Grant though, after this mishap he was cast in many more films and became a British icon here and in the States.

Although many of his films at this time were dubious to say the least, their ratings were bouyed by his popularity and in 1999 he made a real comeback. Notting Hill was a return to form for Grant, made by the same team that first shot to fame with Four Weddings...it confirmed his status and saw his star on the rise again. Following up his success with About A boy and Bridget Jone’s Diary which saw him departing from his usual role as bumbling English fool and made him a whole new type of heartthrob.

He has also starred in Love Actually as the Prime Minister, which saw much speculation as to whether Brits would actually prefer Grant as the leader of their country. Hugh remains a bachelor, despite rumours of a fling with co-star Sandra Bullock, and remains very close friends with Liz Hurley with whom he owns Simian Productions.
