Gordon Ramsay

Retching Reward - June 2006
Gordon Ramsay and Optomen, makers of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, accepted a £75,000 payout yesterday from the Evening Standard. Journalist Victor Lewis Smith accused Ramsay of faking the scene in which he ate a rancid scallop in Bonaparte?s restaurant in order to make average restaurants look like public health hazards. The article even suggested that incompetent chef Tim Gray, who found himself on the end of one of Gordon?s fiercest ever tongue lashings (this was the infamous episode in which he said ?fuck? 111 times), was employed by Optomen and was not in fact a chef at Bonaparte?s at all.
Lawyers for the Evening Standard apologised for distress caused to Ramsay and to Optomen. In typical Ramsay style the chef had the final word on the matter, ranting ?I won’t let people write anything they want to about me. Even I have limits and on this occasion the line was crossed.?
Five Years More ... - June 2006
It seems Channel 4 can?t get enough of Gordon Ramsay. It looks like the controversial cook will be on our screens until 2011 after signing a four year golden handcuffs deal which will tie him to the channel, which currently shows his series? The F Word and Ramsay?s Kitchen Nightmares. Gordon was lured away by ITV, who entered in to a furious bidding war for the star, to make Hell?s Kitchen but it looks unlikely that the show will make a comeback. Nonetheless The F Word returns to our screens this month whilst a new series of Kitchen Nightmares is in the pipeline for later on in 2006.
Cliff Clash - June 2006
It was God botherer versus gobshite when second-coming song-pedaller Sir Cliff Richard took part in a blind taste test for Gordon Ramsay?s Channel 4 show The F Word earlier this month. Sir Cliff unwittingly called his own Vida Nova wine ?rubbish? and said it wasn’t worth the £12.99 price tag before a gleeful Gordon told him ’Cliff, that was your own wine.’ But instead of seeing the funny side, Gordon claims that the Summer Holiday star ’went off. Bananas. He leant over and said ’young man, go fuck yourself.’’ Of course Cliff denies swearing, with his people labelling Ramsay as self-serving but we love the idea of Gord sticking it to the saintly one.
Gordon’s back - Oct 24, 2020
Our favourite foul mouthed chef is back on the UK’s TV screens this month with his new series The F Word.
With the programme shown before the watershed Gord has been warned to tone down his language as, for the first time, he displays his cooking skills on screen. As well as sharing recipes Gordon will be telling viewers where to buy the best ingredients and how to serve up the perfect meal and chatting to foodie guests. Filmed in Notting Hill?s Belgo The F Word harks back to old style cookery shows while showcasing Ramsay?s much talked about cooking talent and allowing him to put his money where his mouth is after slagging off everyone else?s cooking in Hell?s Kitchen and Ramsay?s Kitchen Nightmares.
Hell’s Kitchens Hot - Aug 05
Anne Robinson’s Weakest Link and Simon Cowell’s Pop Idol have both enjoyed massive US success in the past couple of years and now another name can be added to the list of cranky Brit exports - that of Gordon Ramsey.
The state-side version of Hell’s Kitchen, which lets the volatile TV chef’s explosive personality loose on a crew of aspiring chefs, was easily the TV hit of the summer and now Fox has snapped up a second season of the show.

Following his injury Ramsay signed up for catering college, passing with flying colours and going on to work under legendary chefs Marco Pierre White and Albert Roux. After honing his skills in kitchens around the UK and France, Ramsay went on to become a personal chef for an Australian TV star before flying back to London as part owner of Aubergine. But, in true Ramsay style Gordon had a bust up with the backers of Aubergine, causing him to walk out and take his staff with him to form his eponymous restaurant in Chelsea, the only London eatery to gain three Michelin stars.
He has also opened restaurants in Claridges and the Connaught as well as Petrus in Mayfair, Amaryllis in Glasgow and Verre in Dubai. Ramsay is also a TV celebrity, currently starring in Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares on Channel 4, a reality TV show which gives the Osbournes a run for it’s money in the ******* **** stakes.
