The group’s worldwide comeback tour, which starts in Canada on December 2, will be the first time they have appeared as a five since Geri left the band in 1998.

Fans will be given a second chance to get their hands on tickets for the tour when phone lines are opened up tomorrow (Saturday) for two new dates added to the London leg.

Geri promised: "It is going to be amazing. It’s going to be like a piece of theatre. It has got a story to it. It is really creative."

And she scotched the idea that it will make the group a fortune, saying: "People think you are going to be loaded but you have to do about 99 dates to break even by the time you have paid for the huge screen and all of those things.

"This reunion is about the fans and us celebrating the past. It’s more about that."

The new Spice Girls album is out on November 12 and the single will be released a week later.

Geri dating Russian heir? - 13 July 2020
It’s not only Geri Halliwell’s career which is on the up - it seems her love life is looking pretty healthy too.

The flame-haired Spice Girl is dating Russian Evgeny Lebedev, who is the heir to a billion-pound fortune, reports the Daily Mirror.

The mum-of-one has been on a number of nights out with the 26-year-old hunk and the duo made their first public appearance at the Serpentine Gallery summer bash earlier this week.

The couple apparently looked smitten and couldn’t keep their hands off each other.

A onlooker told the paper: "They looked very much together all night and were whispering in each other’s ears. Geri seemed totally besotted with him and kept touching his arm. And it looked like the feeling was very much mutual."

Evgeny was named by Tatler magazine earlier this year as the third most eligible bachelor in the UK.

It is thought that the socialite - whose dad is former KGB agent Alexander Lebedev - was introduced to Geri by Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich and his ex-wife Irina, with whom she is friendly.

Geri behind Spice Girls reunion? - July 3 2007
Geri Halliwell is reportedly the driving force behind the Spice Girls reunion.

The flame-haired singer was forced to get the girls to settle their differences - and win back the trust of Victoria Beckham, who was left seething after Geri quit the group in May 1998.

A source told The Sun: "Geri began getting in contact with Victoria again in 2004. She knew how hurt Victoria was but she also knew how to push the right buttons.

"Geri broke down in front of Victoria, apologised for leaving the band in the way she did and begged for her forgiveness.

"She also told Victoria how awful her life was at the time. She was lonely, confused, didn’t have a man and didn’t even have a place to call home. Victoria started to feel sorry for Geri."

The girls rekindled their relationship - and Geri even asked Posh to be godmother to daughter Bluebell Madonna.

Geri splashes out on gift for Mel - June 27 2007
Geri Halliwell has apparently splashed out £7,000 on a diamond necklace for her former Spice pal Mel B.

The singer bought Mel the pendant after DNA tests proved her baby daughter is Eddie Murphy’s child, reports the Daily Star.

Mel has always insisted two-month-old Angel Iris was fathered by the Hollywood actor, but he contested the claims after they split when the former Scary Spice was pregnant.

Biography

Born Geraldine Estelle Halliwell on 6th August 1972 in Watford, London, Geri Halliwell is best known as Ginger Spice but in fact started her career long before she joined the Spice Girls - working as a topless prize girl on Turkish TV.

In the 1990s Geri became one fifth of the worlds biggest girl band and has never looked back. Along with Mel B, Emma, Mel C and Victoria, she scored some of the biggest hits of the decade, made a feature film and raked in the cash through sponsorship deals. But in May ’98 Geri made the shock announcement that she was to leave the band to persue a solo career.

She sold her Spice clothes to raise more than $200,000 for a cancer charity, journeyed to Uganda for Comic Relief, was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations, and even got to sing "Happy Birthday" to the future king of England, Prince Charles.

Nearly a year after her departure from the Spice Girls, Halliwell released her debut solo album, Schizophonic, whose sound is a self-described cross between "Julie Andrews and Johnny Rotten." The album, released on Capitol Records, contained Halliwell’s first single, "Look at Me." which went to number 2 in the charts. She followed up the success of Schizophonic with Scream If You Want To Go Faster in 2001. After going solo, Geri moved to LA, formed an unlikely close relationship with George Michael and told all to the press about her eating disorders after losing an incredible amount of weight and releasing two yoga videos.

Geri is now back in the UK, working on new material and a reality TV show which will follow the format of The Osbournes. She’s also back to her old busty ginger self!
