Geri?s album flops ? June 05
Poor Geri. Those nightclub and supermarket appearances haven?t been enough to prevent dismal sales of her latest musical offerings.

First, single, Desire, limps into the charts at number 22, and now new album, Passion, has entered the album charts at a not-very-impressive 41, having sold a mere 5000 copies since its release.

I think a lucrative Spice Girls reunion complete with greatest hits album is in order?

Spice Girls to reform? ? May 05
After the initial denials, the Spice Girls looked all set to join acts such as Sir Elton John, Robbie Williams, Coldplay and Eminem for the G8 concert, taking place in London?s Hyde Park on July 2.

But the fab five were conspicuously absent from the official line-up announced by Bob Geldolf, prompting rumours that they have been axed from the bill because they are not credible or ?current? enough. It?s worth noting that this is a bill that also includes Bob Geldolf himself.

The band is said to be furious with this apparent snub by bungling event organisers. In a further twist, Geldolf is now saying that the Spice Girls may still perform after all.

No air-play for Geri ? May 05
The former Spice Girl?s plans for a comeback have suffered yet another setback ? radio stations are refusing to play her latest single.

Desire, due out at the end of the month, has failed to make the play lists of major stations including Radio 1 and Capital FM. It?s thought that, without this crucial support on the airwaves, the single will struggle to get into the top 10.

But all?s not lost - deprived fans of Geri?s music can catch the singer when she performs at various nightclubs up and down the country in the run up to the single?s late May release.

Geri denies record label rumours ? Apr 05
Geri?s record label has been forced to issue a statement after stories appeared on the internet claiming the singer had been unceremoniously dropped.

A spokesperson for EMI said of her forthcoming album: ?EMI are extremely excited about the music and are currently in the midst of working on a very strong campaign.?

However, a senior exec at the label has since undone the positive PR work by admitting, ?The more I think about it [the album] the less comfortable I feel.? Sounds like it will have to be a ?very strong campaign? indeed.

Halliwell halted - Feb 05
Geri Halliwell puts back tour dates after poor ticket sales. The ex Spice Girl has been forced to put her comeback tour on hold because, apparently, studio bosses want her to pen some new material before she goes on the road. Geri’s record label denies that the cancellations have anything to do with bad ticket sales, instead explaining that the decision was made when it became clear that her new album wouldn’t be ready in time for its planned release date next month.

Biography

Born Geraldine Estelle Halliwell on 6th August 1972 in Watford, London, Geri Halliwell is best known as Ginger Spice but in fact started her career long before she joined the Spice Girls - working as a topless prize girl on Turkish TV.

In the 1990s Geri became one fifth of the worlds biggest girl band and has never looked back. Along with Mel B, Emma, Mel C and Victoria, she scored some of the biggest hits of the decade, made a feature film and raked in the cash through sponsorship deals. But in May ’98 Geri made the shock announcement that she was to leave the band to persue a solo career.

She sold her Spice clothes to raise more than $200,000 for a cancer charity, journeyed to Uganda for Comic Relief, was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations, and even got to sing "Happy Birthday" to the future king of England, Prince Charles.

Nearly a year after her departure from the Spice Girls, Halliwell released her debut solo album, Schizophonic, whose sound is a self-described cross between "Julie Andrews and Johnny Rotten." The album, released on Capitol Records, contained Halliwell’s first single, "Look at Me." which went to number 2 in the charts. She followed up the success of Schizophonic with Scream If You Want To Go Faster in 2001. After going solo, Geri moved to LA, formed an unlikely close relationship with George Michael and told all to the press about her eating disorders after losing an incredible amount of weight and releasing two yoga videos.

Geri is now back in the UK, working on new material and a reality TV show which will follow the format of The Osbournes. She’s also back to her old busty ginger self!
