The Douglas’s Do Dance - Feb 04
Michael Douglas has revealed to an American teen magazine that he and wife Catherine Zeta Jones are planning to work together in a remake of a 1950’s musical.
Zeta Jones won an Oscar for her role in all singing, all dancin’ hit Chicago, but it appears Michael’s moves leave a lot to be desired. Not that it bothers him - apparently they don’t care whether it’s a box office smash, they just want to ’enjoy working together’. Aahhh. By Hannah Mills
Hello! Appeals Against Court Ruling - Feb 04
Christopher Hutchings, lawyer for society gossip mag Hello! has revealed that the publication will launch an appeal later this year against the High Court Ruling that awarded rival magazine OK!, and stroppy starlet Catherine Zeta Jones, more than ?1m in damages.
The ongoing Zeta-gate saga started in 2002 when Hello! published unauthorized (and extremely blurry) snaps of the Hollywood couple on their big day, jeoparding their lucrative exclusivity deal with OK! The Douglas’s claimed that their day was ruined; their privacy had been invaded; that ?1m was ’not a lot of money’ to them - and then proceeded to show the world a snap of their newborn son...and the saga continues. Details are still to be confirmed, but it appears Hello! is not ready to say adios to the case just yet. Watch this space for updates... By Hannah Mills
Big payout for Hello - Jan 04
Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas have been awarded more than three quarters of the ?4m they spent suing Hello magazine for unauthorized wedding pictures.
Hello mag must now cough up the cash as well as swallowing the ?1m the celeb magazine spent defending the case. A spokesman for the couple and OK magazine, which paid ?1m to the couple for exclusive pictures, said Hello is facing a bill of ?5 million in all.
But a solicitor for Hello said the judge in the case had restricted the costs claim. He said ’Hello obviously faces a massive bill but when these figures are finally settled, the Douglases and OK will also be hugely out of pocket’.
Still, victory for Catherine and Michael - best not to say ’hello’ to them for a while, a simple ’hi’ should suffice...
A costly hello! - 15/11/03
It cost Hello magazine more than ?1m for publishing snatched photographs of Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas’s wedding.
The judge gave the celebrity couple a total of ?14,600 and awarded Hello!’s rival OK! ?1,033,156 for commercial damage to its exclusive coverage of the New York wedding in November 2000.
Lawyers acting for the couple hailed the award as "historic" and said they would be donating their damages to The Family Learning Centre. This is cool as ?14,600 is probably like loose change for Catherine and Million, sorry Michael Douglas!
What would you do with ?14,600? Talk about this on our message board

She went on to appear in numerous little noticed films and series’, including a made for TV film, Titanic, and comic book movie The Phantom, alongside Billy Zane. It was around this time that she was picked to star with Antonio Banderas in The Mask of Zorro and Sean Connery in Entrapment. These films would make Catherine in to the Hollywood star we know today.
In 2000 she starred in Stephen Soderburgh’s Traffic with her future husband Michael Douglas. When they married later that year there was much critcism of the age difference (Douglas being 25 years her senior), however their marriage continues to go from strength to strength and they now have two children, Dylan (born in 2000) and Cerys (born in 2003).
Between babies and awards ceremonies CZJ has made a real name for herself as a leading lady in films such as The Terminal, Ocean’s Eleven and America’s Sweethearts. She has also won an Oscar for her all-singing, all-dancing part in musical Chicago whilst also working as spokeswoman for Elizabeth Arden.
