"The first few days of shooting the movie, it was lovely, and the chefs would cook me up something to keep me going. And then, by the third or fourth day, it was like, if I have to smell one more thing, I’m going to throw up!"
I have insecurities, says Catherine - July 26 2007
While she plays a fiery chef in her new film, No Reservations, Catherine Zeta-Jones reveals that in real life, she is a terrible cook, but she knows the recipe for success.
As one of the world’s most beautiful women, Catherine is an actress who has made the move from the small screen to the Hollywood-sized screen, and who is blissfully married to Michael Douglas with two children.
Yet she admits that she still has insecurities.
"Of course I do. Are you out of your mind?" she said to OK! magazine.
"You should see me taking my kids to school. You should see me some mornings."
In the movie, the actress is very unglamorous, a far cry from the Catherine we see on the red carpet.
"When we saw a screening of it, Michael was laughing at me. When he saw me with completely natural bad hair, and snoring, I asked him, ’Do I look like that when I’m getting up?’ And he said, ’No, I don’t think so, sweetie.’"
Catherine’s sarnie diet - July 18 2007
Catherine Zeta Jones has revealed the secret to her trim figure is the thought of a salmon and crisp sarnie after the gym.
The 37-year-old actress said the snack was an incentive to work out: "This might sound crazy, but [I stay slim] with smoked salmon sandwiches on brown bread with potato chips in the middle crushed down.
"I have to drag myself down to the gym like everyone else. But when I finish, I can eat more sandwiches," she told the Daily Mirror.
The Mask Of Zorro star, who is married to Michael Douglas, also told how living in Bermuda gave her children, Dylan, seven, and four-year-old Carys, more privacy.
"It’s great bringing them up there, taking them to school without hassle, with no photographers hanging around," she said.
Catherine is set to star in Death Defying Acts later this year alongside former Neighbours star Guy Pearce, who plays escapologist Harry Houdini.
Catherine reveals kids threat - 12 July 2020
Catherine Zeta-Jones has revealed she would have left Michael Douglas if he hadn’t wanted children.
The 37-year-old actress, who is 25 years younger than her hubby, said she warned him of her desire for children before they tied the knot, the Daily Mirror reports.
"I turned to him and asked, ’Do you really want children?’ I thought for one minute he was going to say, ’I already have a son’. I would then have had to say goodbye," Catherine reportedly told Parade magazine.
She added: "I remember saying defiantly, ’I can’t live without having children’. And he went, ’Me too’."
The couple, who married in New York in 2000, have two kids, Dylan, seven, and Carys, four.
Catherine said: "I worry about them all the time."
She met Michael in 1998 after he spotted her in The Mask Of Zorro.

She went on to appear in numerous little noticed films and series’, including a made for TV film, Titanic, and comic book movie The Phantom, alongside Billy Zane. It was around this time that she was picked to star with Antonio Banderas in The Mask of Zorro and Sean Connery in Entrapment. These films would make Catherine in to the Hollywood star we know today.
In 2000 she starred in Stephen Soderburgh’s Traffic with her future husband Michael Douglas. When they married later that year there was much critcism of the age difference (Douglas being 25 years her senior), however their marriage continues to go from strength to strength and they now have two children, Dylan (born in 2000) and Cerys (born in 2003).
Between babies and awards ceremonies CZJ has made a real name for herself as a leading lady in films such as The Terminal, Ocean’s Eleven and America’s Sweethearts. She has also won an Oscar for her all-singing, all-dancing part in musical Chicago whilst also working as spokeswoman for Elizabeth Arden.
