In an interview for next month’s Esquire magazine, Angelina said she wanted to be remembered for her humanitarian work. "I have no animosity toward Hollywood or the demands of the red carpet, all that silliness," she told the magazine, "That’s my job, and I’m happy to have it. But when I die, do I want to be remembered as an actress? No. I recently had an op-ed (column) published in a newspaper. And at the end, it didn’t say I was an actress, it said I was a UN goodwill ambassador - that’s all. And I was really proud."
Jolie legacy should be her UN work - June 6 2007
Angelina Jolie says she wants to be remembered for her humanitarian work.
"I have no animosity toward Hollywood or the demands of the red carpet, all that silliness," Jolie, 32, tells Esquire magazine in its upcoming July issue.
"That’s my job, and I’m happy to have it. But when I die, do I want to be remembered as an actress? No."
She added: "I recently had an op-ed (column) published in a newspaper," she continues. "And at the end, it didn’t say I was an actress. It said that I was a UN goodwill ambassador - that’s all. And I was really proud."
Jolie, an activist for issues ranging from global poverty to wildlife conservation, says she has found meaning as a citizen of the world.
"I entered this business before I had focus and purpose in my life," says Jolie. "I was very unhappy, very unhealthy, and when I sat down for an interview, I didn’t know why. I felt like I didn’t have anything to share. It was a very empty time."
Her life is now far from empty. Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, 43, have four children: five-year-old Maddox, who was adopted from Cambodia; three-year-old Pax Thien, who was adopted from Vietnam; two-year-old Zahara, who was adopted from Ethiopia; and daughter, Shiloh, who was born to the couple a year ago.
"I try to make sure that each of my children has enough of my attention to feel equal. I try to make sure that my relationship with the man in my life is solid and complete and we’re very connected and having a great life together and enjoying our children and being part of the world. So that’s my life," she says.
"We don’t go to parties. We hardly ever leave the house. We try to schedule time when we’re alone," says Jolie, who sports various tattoos, wore a vial of Billy Bob Thornton’s blood around her neck during their marriage, and was blamed for Pitt’s divorce from Jennifer Aniston - which Pitt has denied.
"Right now, Pax is sleeping in our bed. It’s kind of nice, him immediately knowing and feeling comfortable with us," she says. "Madd slept with me until Brad and I got together. They’re fun to sleep with. We have family sleep on Sundays. Everybody sleeps together."
Shiloh turns one - June 1 2007
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has turned one - and the entire family celebrated in style in Prague, where mum Angelina is shooting her latest movie.
A whopping 50 balloons were brought in over the weekend, as well as cookies and cake to help the baby celebrate.
Angie had to work in the morning, but was back after lunch to spend the rest of the day with the birthday girl.
The entire Jolie-Pitt posse - Brad, Angie, Shiloh and the actress’s adopted children Maddox, Pax and Zahara - have been hanging out in Prague while Angelina shoots assassin thriller Wanted, which co-stars Morgan Freeman and Britain’s own James McAvoy.
And to stave off the boredom, Brad is making sure they do everything as a family, even the silly stuff.

Her family moved to LA when Angelina was eleven and she soon began working on her acting career, enrolling in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute where ahe appeared in several productions. Despite her abilities Angelina was teased during her time at Beverley Hills High School - far from being beautiful and popular she was skinny, with glasses and braces and wore second hand clothes. At 14 she dropped out of theatre classes, harbouring dreams of becoming a funeral director, and began cutting herself. Angelina began a rebellious period of her life, moving out of home and in with her boyfriend.
At around the same time she was taken on by Finesse Model Management and took jobs in the US and Europe, she also appeared in several music videos for the likes of Meat Loaf and Lenny Kravitz. Then, at 16, she returned to acting and rekindled her relationship with her father. She appeared in several of her brother’s student films before, in 1993 she was offered a role in sci-fi flick Cyborg 2. Several equally poor productions followed before Angelina landed a role in Hackers, which was a cult hit and threw the actress in the direction of Jonny Lee Miller, whom she would soon marry.
Little known films such as Foxfire and Mojave Moon followed but it was the Golden Globe winning George Wallace that got Angelina noticed and Pushing Tin, which co-starred Billy Bob Thornton and The Bone Collector helped her on her way to global stardom. However it was her part as messed up teenager Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted which won her her place on the Hollywood walk of fame. The role won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress as well as several other accolades.
Action movies Gone In 60 Seconds and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider followed and made sure Angelina was admired the world over by men and women alike. Meanwhile her personal life became just as fascinating than her on screen performances. Having divorced Jonny Lee Miller she married Pushing Tin costar Billy Bob Thornton, famously they wore vials of blood around their neck, however in 2003 they also divorced despite having adopted a Cambodian orphan, Maddox. At the same time she admitted she had had a relationship with a female costar on the set of Foxfire. Meanwhile she continued with her now much publicised humanitarian work, as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN and her film career, appearing in Alexander and Taking Lies among others.
In 2005 Angelina took a leading role in Mr & Mrs Smith, opposite Brad Pitt. Although the movie itself was widely panned the burgeoning relationship between Angelina and Brad, who was at the time in the process of splitting from Jennifer Aniston, made sure it was a hit. The relationship was also a success, in January 2006 Angelina announced that she was pregnant, just months after adopting second child, Ethiopian Zahara, she gave birth to Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.
Angelina has confirmed that she is working on a screen adaptation of Beowulf, A Mighty Heart and Atlas Shrugged.
