"Tried this place out for lunch as it's relatively new and was not impressed. Food was OK, not amazing, but what really struck me was the service. The waiters were curt and dismissive and after asking whether they had fresh orange juice, they brought what was clearly something out of a bottle."

"The food in this restaurant was excellent - tastes great and looks great so can only assume the new management was badly needed.
I love it here and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Highly recommended."

"After new management and refurbishment. Food, service and interior are totally changed. The chinese tapas menu, which is perfect for my greediness to taste difference dishes in a meal.
My favour dish, dim sum, charcoal grilled and crispy duck roll."

"just had dinner at galangal, we had a budget for the two of us as We are on holiday. Looked at the menu board outside and calculated what we could spend. Nothing on the menu board about service charge when the bill arrived we got charged. The food was a little on the cold side just like the welcome we got from the female owner sitting at the bar area. We waited 15 mins to order, when the food arrived it looked terrible, nothing like the colour pictures on the window. Little wonder the restaurant was empty however the pub across the road was full. They serve Thai food as well so we will try the pub next time."

"I work down the street from Galangal and as it is fairly large, I get to go on lots of lunch meetings there (despite the lunch-time noise).
First of all, the pricing for lunch items is definitely reasonable, but after having tried every item on the lunch menu, I am still less than impressed. Even for Camden standards, the food is quite bland and only slightly reminiscent of true Thai fare. The service is hideously slow and - yes - rather sullen: no hello, no smiles, orders are taken in silence and the food arrives in the same.
At work we refer to it as "the canteen", and that is about the kind of quality and service you should expect. "

"service was very poor and the food was not very thai it was more hong kong style cooking. the restaurant could do with a clean and the staff could smile more."

"Galangal is indeed a fine restaurant - as your man there says and deserves better write ups than it often gets. However, I would not agree with a couple of points. Firstly, the food is NOT terribly authentic, indeed it is a very westernized version of Thai food and although good cannot be compared to meals served in many similar restaurants in London, which are far more authentic. Secondly, I find the service to be a little poor, perhaps I am coming on the wrong evenings but the staff who have served me have seemed particularly sullen. However, overall a good restaurant."

"Just back from dinner with friends at Galangal and couldn't wait to share the news!!! The interior is madly cool and the staff are perfect but best of all was the food!! I can't have had better Thai food outside of Thailand itself! The Pad Thai was spot on, just the right fusion of flavours while my girlfriend informs me that the pumpkin curry is just the thing for vegetarians. I was surprised to see that in some places online Galangal is not well reviewed so maybe the thing is to try it and see for yourself! I guarantee you'll be impressed!!!"
