Bad Sandwich gives us three tracks of full-on funk rock. Tablets 4 Tissues will probably remind you of the Starsky and Hutch theme tune with its wacka wacka guitar, and Dark Squid blasts us with some funkadelic slap-bass. Get A Grip has a slight feel of Jimi Hendrix’s Fire about it but at a more frantic pace and even has a pretty good Jimi style wailing guitar solo which is just one example of how well the instruments are played. It’s just a shame about the horrific squawking, squealing vocals that completely ruins what are actually three tracks which could stand on their own as instrumentals.
You will find yourself trying to ignore the vocals in order to absorb the funky sounds that lie beneath. The DVD that accompanies the audio CD is not really what you would call an added bonus as seeing the manic singer does not make you feel any better about his singing.
