Take That plea for Brits help - Jan 25 2007
Take That have appealed for their fans to help them win a prestigious Brit Award for their No 1 hit Patience.

The fab four are among 11 acts who have been shortlisted for the Best British Single category this year, which is voted for by viewers before and on the night.

In a plea on their website, www.takethattv.com, the band encouraged fans to vote for Patience to help them win a Brit.

The first round of voting closes on February 4 when the three artists with the lowest votes will be eliminated.

The final five artists will be revealed the following Sunday after the second round of voting and the winner will be chosen in a live text vote on the night of the Brits on Valentine’s Day.

Meanwhile the chart-toppers announced a video exclusive of their next single Shine on their website tonight at 11.05pm and shown again on C4 at 7am.

The second single from their hit album Beautiful World will be released on February 26.

No reunion for Robbie - April 04

Robbie Williams T has quashed rumours of a Take That reunion, which no doubt has left Mark Owen sobbing into his cornflakes...

Take That ruled the world in the 90’s, and then it all ended, Robbie became a superstar, and Howard possibly now collects trolleys for his local supermarket. Rumours of a Take That reunion started to float about, with the rest of the 90s boy band being understandably all set for getting back together. But not our Robbie, who has kindly replied "there is more chance of hell freezing over".

You can’t really blame him, do you think he would meekly go back to leting Gary Barlow be the spokesman? I sort of get the impression no...

Biography

Take That was formed in 1990 as Britain’s answer to the American boy band ’New Kids on the Block’. The band members were Gary Barlow (lead vocalist and song-writer), Robbie Williams (second lead and cheeky chappie), Jason Orange (choreographer and dancer), Marc Owen (the ’cute’ one)and Howard Donald (dancer).

Although they had a somewhat shaky start, and were close to being dropped from their record label - they then released ’It Only Takes a Minute’ which went to the number one chart spot. Teenage girls loved them everywhere, and they had eight number one hits altogether - including ’Relight My Fire’ with Lulu (also reinvigorating Lulu’s career as well!)

News that Robbie was leaving the band was taken badly by the fans, and although the four that were left did carry on (and have two more hit records) they finally announced it was all over in 1996. Teenage girls worldwide needed counselling... Until the next boy band of course.

Post Take That, youngest band member Robbie Williams has gone on to acheive the dizzying heights of A List stardom, while Gary (the one who was expected to shine) has not been heard of so much, although he did have two number one singles. Marc Owen also had a stab at solo pop stardom but was not so well recieved (although apparently it’s gone down vey well in Spain...). Jason Orange has been pursuing an acting career and treading the boards, while Howard - what is Howard doing? Answers on a very small postcard please!
