Linda and the poo thief - 09/10/03
A mugger stole a bag from Islington actress Linda Robson, unaware that she had just filled the bag with her pooper scooper...
Linda’s new Staffordshire puppy had had an accident on her kitchen floor, so she scooped the mess into a carrier bag and walked outside her home to put the bag in a skip by the roadside.
A boy on a mountain bike obviously thought she was holding something more valuable than puppy poo, and hit Linda in the face to steal the bag.
Linda was left with bruises to her face and said "I can see the funny side, especially when the mugger looked at his trophy - a little present from my dog. But I am distressed this has happened on my doorstep and also that my face is such a mess."
Let’s hope the mugger reached in the bag without looking first...

Her dad was born in Elmore Street and her mum still lives there. She met her TV sparring partner Pauline Quirke at Ecclesbourne Primary school and was a member of the Anna Scher theatre along with Pauline, Sid Owen, Patsy Palmer, Kathy Burke and many more.
She has said of those times "It was like a youth club really. We all used to go along because we all fancied Gary and Martin Kemp". (Martin and Gary are also old Islington residents!)
Her first appearance on our TV screens was in Junket 89 (1970) when she made her debut as a character called Daisy. But it was her best friend Pauline who was making a name for herself, and soon Linda was appearing on Pauline’s 1976 show ’Pauline’s Quirkes’. This began a long-term onscreen partnership of working with her friend.
They both starred in Shine On Harvey Moon (Linda was ’Maggie Moon’, Pauline ’Veronica’) and then in the long running Birds of a Feather. Lesley Joseph joined Linda and Pauline, and this trio became some of our best-loved actresses on TV.
Linda is married to former window cleaner Mark Dunford and has three children - 19 year old Lauren, 10 year old Louis and six year old Bobby. But apparently she may be on the move and selling her Islington home (now worth £1m). Its all down to education for her two youngest...
She says "It’s very difficult, I know everyone in Islington, everyone down the market, all the girls in Marks and Spencers. I don’t want to leave and I know Islington Green school is really improving but - it’s a real dilemma."
