Hugh and Jemima announce separation - Feb 17 2007
Hugh Grant and Jemima Khan have separated.
Robert Garlock told US website People.com: "Hugh and Jemima have decided to split amicably."
Romantic comedy star Grant, 46, who is best known for his role in Four Weddings and a Funeral, had been dating Khan for about three years but had recently dodged questions about whether marriage was on the cards.
Khan, socialite daughter of the late millionaire James Goldsmith, began her relationship with Grant after the breakdown of her marriage to Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, with whom she has two sons.
The split comes days after the couple attended the London and Los Angeles premieres of his new film, Music and Lyrics.
There have been suggestions that their relationship was in trouble after they were reportedly seen arguing in public.
The pair were seen rowing at Khan’s 33rd birthday party held at The George Restaurant in Mayfair, London.
Khan was reportedly overheard joking about Grant’s commitment phobia to which he replied she was behaving like a dictator.
Grant, who has never been married, was famously arrested with a prostitute in Hollywood in 1995, while in a long-term relationship with actress and model Elizabeth Hurley.
Jemima dresses to thrill - 01 Feb 07
It seems Hugh Grant’s girlfriend Jemima Khan is still living in the shadow of his ex-lover Liz Hurley - at least when it comes to clothes.
The 33-year-old recently celebrated her birthday in a tight-fitting PVC black number complete with see-through side panels, that was only too reminiscent of Miss Hurley’s infamous safety-pin dress, reports the Daily Mail.
Friends of the couple say Jemima decided to glam it up a notch after 47-year-old Hugh made a casual comment about his ex-girlfriend, the paper reports.
"When Jemima and Hugh were in LA for the Golden Globes, they were watching TV and Liz popped up," a friend told the paper.
"Hugh made what he thought was a perfectly innocent comment about how good Liz looked.
"Jemima usually laughs along when he says things like that. But on this occasion, she wasn’t best pleased - and reacted by going all quiet."
The source added: "When Hugh made those comments in LA, it started her thinking she should just throw caution to the wind and dress to show off her fabulous body."
Heiress guilty over wealth - Sept 6, 2020
Jemima Khan has revealed she is filled with guilt over her immense wealth. The heiress says she has been "dragging" boyfriend Hugh Grant to impoverished countries around the world to make him "care".
Jemima, 32, daughter of the late billionaire Sir James Goldsmith, said: "I clearly have a very privileged background. "Do I have the guilt of the over-privileged? I’d have to say yes. And is it the reason I do charity work? Again I’d have to say yes, in part."
Jemima became an ambassador for Unicef after living with Imran Khan, now her ex-husband, in Pakistan. She described to Easy Living magazine a visit to an Afghan refugee camp in Peshawar, dubbed "plastic city" because of its thousands of makeshift homes made out of bin-liners.
