Janet’s out! - Dec 6, 2020
It’s an all male finale as Janet Street Porter leaves camp. JSP was voted out by the public yesterday, leaving Joe, Paul and Fran to battle it out for the Jungle King crown. "I think they’ve chosen the right three" the journalist told Ant and Dec on leaving "I’m glad it’s happened this way." Janet was clearly one of the few members of the celebrity group who made the most of jungle life and she even went so far as to say "In a perverse kind of way I’ve enjoyed it." And as for Paul Burrell? "At the bottom is a thoroughly genuine man and a nice bloke. I always thought he was badly mistreated."

Janet’s life story - June 04
Janet Street-Porter has released a autobiographical book, Baggage.
The TV presenter, columnist and editor has written a book based on the first twenty years of her life, although Street-Porter says it is the story of Janet Bull a girl who ’expired’ when she left home to move to London. The book, Baggage: My Childhood centres around Janet’s hate for her mother and her desperation to get away from her home. The book is published this month by Headline.
Janet’s not a winner - April 04
Janet Street Porter did not win the Welsh reality show cariad@iaith, as that honour went to Paralympic champion Tanni Grey-Thompson instead.
Janet tried her hardest to get her head around Welsh in the intensive week long crash course. Her secret weapon for learning the language was apparently a stock of Jamaican cereal bars, although how they helped is unclear - perhaps they gave her enough energy to tackle the tongue twisting vowels.
However Janet said she was ’ very glad that I did take up the challenge of learning it." She had been slammed for previously saying about Welsh ’"There are no words for anything invented after the Black Death."
Janet in Welsh Big Brother - Jan 04
Janet Street Porter is famed for her comments about the Welsh, yet she has agreed to take part in a Welsh version of celebrity Big Brother.

In the 1970’s she did some broadcasting on LBC Radio and from there progressed to presenting, devising and producing shows for London Weekend Television (including the Six O’clock Show). Janet was BBC Head of Youth and Entertainment Features from 1988-1994, was the MD of cable channel Live TV for a year and co-founded Screaming Productions in 1996. She currently works as editor of the Independent on Sunday.A little known fact is that comedienne Caroline Aherne used to be Janet’s secretary!
An award winning broadcaster, she was winner of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award for originality in 1988, and the Prix Italia for her production of opera The Vampyr in 1993. She has also been nominated for the Carlton TV Mae West Award for the most outspoken woman in the industry - go Janet!
She has been caricatured many times for her infamously large teeth and her strong accent - but this worked well in her favour when her pronunciation of the word ’youth’ while at the BBC lead to the national phrase ’yoof TV’.
She has been married three times; Street Porter is the surname of her first husband - Tim. She is also a keen walker and is the vice-president of the Rambler’s Association. Although she has homes elsewhere - she rents a two bedroom pad near Barbican.
