Jamie Theakston
- Profession: Presenter
- Place/Date of Birth: Ditchling, East Sussex, 21 December 2020
Jamie’s Heart - Feb 05
Jamie Theakston nabs breakfast show on Heart FM. The one time children’s TV presenter is to take over from Jono Coleman in the hope that he can get back those listeners lost by Coleman. According to Heart FM bosses Jamie was chosen for his "affinity" with the shows target audience of 25 to 44 year olds and they hope that the introduction of the once shamed presenter will hail a new era for the ailing station. Jamie will be battling the likes of Chris Moyles on Radio 1 and Johnny Vaughn on Capital for listeners. Local boy Jamie won’t have to travel far to work - Heart FM is based in Notting Hill.
Jamie’s Oscar opportunity - Feb 05
Jamie joins Oscar reporting team. Jamie Theakston is set to be our man on the ground when this year’s Oscar ceremony comes round as he joins Amanda Byram and the mighty Sharon Osbourne for Sky’s coverage of the biggest event on the film industry calendar. Jamie will report from the Oscars parties while Sharon and Amanda take charge of the main event.
Jamie’s back - August 04
Jamie Theakston will present new Channel 4 series. The former kids TV presenter has landed a ?350,000 deal to present a new series aimed at music lovers. The six week long series will honour the likes of The Beatles, Madonna and Elvis as the greatest musicians from the 50s to today battle it out to enter the TV Hall of Fame. The grand final will take place at the Hackney Empire later this year, following five two hour long shows presented by Jamie.
Jamie joins Miss Marple - May 04
Jamie Theakston has landed a top role in ITV1’s band new Miss Marple mysteries.
Hooray - the elderly detective created by Agatha Christie is back, which means we will be able to put our feet up at the weekend and gently be lulled into a land filled with elderly retired colonels, and scandals by the summerhouse.
It is not known what role Jamie has accepted, however my money is on the fictional detective’s artistic nephew, Raymond. The Sun has reported that Jamie hopes ’this will lead to other top roles’ since comedy Mad About Alice failed to please the critics, to put it mildly.
Jamie’s new role - 15/01/04
Jamie Theakston has a starring role in BBC1’s new sitcom Mad About Alice, set to be on a television near you soon.
Jamie will be playing opposite Amanda Holden, who will be finishing her successful stint in the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie in May. The pair play Joe and Alice in the new show. Alice is an interior designer who has broken up from her son’s father Joe. The characters still have a spark between them even though both have new partners, which could make things complicated! Sounds good - and we get to see the lovely Jamie back on our TV screens, even better!
Sporty Jamie - 27/08/03
Notting Hill’s Jamie Theakston is set to present the new Channel 4 celeb sporting challenge The Games.
The Games sounds a bit like a fame-filled Olympics - they have to compete in a series of live heats, which include such sports as speed skating, judo and weightlifting.
Jamie will be safe from sweaty track suited celebs, as he sits in the commentary box at Sheffield’s Don Valley stadium. His co-presenter Jayne Middlemiss will be on the field, ready to capture every wheeze and triumph.
It seems a rather odd mix of ’celebs’ that are punishing themselves on the track though - Ex Sporty Spice Mel C, James Hewitt (exactly), Gail Porter and Bobby Davro are among the big names taking part. From September 7th.

Jamie started his career as a kid’s TV presenter, fronting pop culture show The O-Zone from 1989. He then went on to form a dynamic presenting duo with Zoe Ball on Saturday morning’s Live and Kicking. This would prove to be the job that catapulted Jamie in to the limelight. He went on to appear on Top of the Pops and The Priory, again alongside Zoe.
The TV job led to radio, with Jamie taking the Sunday Lunchtime slot on Radio One. He also broke in to acting with jobs in sitcoms such as Linda Green and Mad About Alice as well as appearing on stage in Art at the Whitehall among others. He remains a regular on televisions and presents a radio show for Heart FM alongside Harriet Scott.
Linked with actress Joely Richardson and singer Natalie Appleton, Jamie hit the headlines in 2001 when it was revealed he had visited a Mayfair prostitute whilst drunk. He apologised to his friends and family for the embarrassment he had caused.
Jamie now fronts Channel 4’s The Search.
