Jamelia’s baby hint - Jan 05
Thank You star could be planning second child. Popstar Jamelia has hinted that she plans on giving three year old daughter Teja a little brother or sister to play with. Jamelia told press that her relationship with footballer boyfriend Darren Byfield is going well although wedding bells aren’t on the horizon. "I’m not announcing any engagement yet," the singer explained "but my relationship is going well and I’m very happy. More children is definitely a prospect."

Jamelia lashes out - Dec 04
Jamelia has started a public row with Usher and Naomi Campbell. Oh, and Pharrell. The Brummie pop star has been on the rampage recently and has chosen Usher to be the first of her targets, dubbing him ’stupid’ when asked about his love of all things bling. Usher had been pursuing the singer but after being knocked back, hooked up with terrifying supermodel Naomi Campbell who we know will relish the chance of another public argument. Next Jamelia started on N*E*R*D and The Neptunes star Pharrell Williams, who she had recently met in Italy. Apparently Pharrell is ’irritating’. Bets are on who’s first to get back at her.

Usher 4 Jamelia - August 04
Usher has been left broken hearted by the Birmingham pop star. It wasn’t that long ago that Jamelia was complaining about never getting chatted up but as we girls well know, men are like buses. Just days after hooking up with football player Darren Byfield reports have been released that R&B star Usher is smitten with the Brum beauty. But the new relationship has only caused Usher to up his game with a constant barrage of flowers and soppy text messages.

Jamelia/The Darkness collaboration! - April 04
Jamelia has been talking about an impending collaboration with Justin Hawkin.

Two of last years brightest stars may come together for a duet. Jamelia has been wanting to work with the Spandexed one for some time and although nothing has been set in stone, she is determined it will happen, she said ’I’m a little bitch and I always get what I want!’ She always seemed so sweet to us.

Jamelia scoops award - April 04
R&B star Jamelia took home the award for Best UK Single at the Capital FM awards.

The Birmingham star was presented the award, for her single Superstar, at the Help A London Child award ceremony last week. It will be another adornment for her already groaning mantelpiece. Fellow Brummie Simon Webbe from Blue collected an award for Best Concert Act.

Jamielia beaten by Ex - Feb
The Birmingham based Superstar singer has revealed she was a victim of domestic violence.

Jamiela has told how a violent ex-boyfriend regularly hit her, and The Sun reports how that abusive relationship is the reason she wrote her most recent and inspiring track Thank You.

She said: "I’m thankful to him for putting me in that situation because now I’m stronger and I’d never be in that situation again.

"When I used to watch the Little Mo and Trevor scenario in EastEnders, I cried. But I was way too scared to hit him back. I still haven’t got over it.

Biography

Jamelia Niela Davis was born to a Jamaican mother and Zimbabwean father and raised in Birmingham’s Winson Green.

Signed to Parlaphone aged just fifteen, Jamelia impressed record execs with a tape of self penned songs sung a-capella.  Her first single, So High, was released in 1999 but it failed to chart while follow up, I Do, entered the charts but at a low position.  Still just eighteen Jamelia released an album, Drama, which peaked at 39 in the charts and produced the single Money which went top five and earned the singer five MOBO nominations.

Taking time out to look after her baby daughter Teja, born in 2001, Jamelia returned to music in 2003, releasing Thank You, which stuck at number 65 in the album charts.  However, despite this disappointment the accompanying single, Superstar, gave her a taste fo true pop stardom.  Jamelia’s singles continued to chart well and before long she was also signed up to model for Pretty Polly and Reebok.

Three MOBO awards and three Brit nominations later Jamelia gave birth to a second daughter, Tiani, fathered by footballer Darren Byfield.

Her third album, Walk With Me, was released in 2006 and featured some quality collaborations and produced some reasonably successful singles, among them Something About You and Beware of the Dog.

Jamelia is a high profile campaigner for animal rights charity PETA and HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns with proceeds of her own fragrance donated to the cause.
