Cat quits SM:TV 30/01/02
Cat Deeley has announced she is to quite SM:TV after three years of presenting the Saturday morning show. It seems she can’t quite manage the same enthusiasm without Ant and Dec, who both left just three months ago, and will make her last appearance at the end of March. However, there is some good news, as she will continue to front CD:UK until the end of August. Cat is reportedly off for greener pastures in the form of starring in a major ITV drama and hosting a holiday programme. Hollyoaks’s James Redmond, Tess Daly and Big Brother’s Brian Dowling, will remain presenting SM:TV.

Biography

Cat Deeley first stepped into the limelight at the tender age of 14, when she entered a regional BBC Clothes Show competition. Despite her limited modelling experience she made it through to the final round and was instantly snapped up by Storm modelling agency. After successfully sitting both her GCSE’s and A Levels she became a full time model.

Cat first appeared on MTV after sending a video application of herself performing as a VJ; she was invited to interviews and auditions before finally bagging a job.

Her progression onto terrestrial television saw her present the popular CD:UK. But it was her stint co-hosting SMTV Live with Ant and Dec that really secured her position on the small screen. In 2001 she was awarded a Children’s BAFTA for Best Presenter.

Since then she has gone on to host The Record of the Year, Fame Academy, The Brit Awards 2004 and Stars in Their Eyes. Cat has also branched out into to radio with a weekly slot on London’s Capital FM.

Having firmly set her sights on Hollywood, in 2006 Cat hosted the American reality show So You Think You Can Dance and is due to return for the third season which will be aired in 2007.
Cat is reported to have purchased the former Brentwood, LA residence of Marilyn Monroe, where the actress was found dead in 1962.
