At the age of 15, he left school and began work as a plumbers mate, and then in a slaughter house but it was when he landed a job testing car horns at the Lucas factory where first developed his musical interest. He began as a singer in a series of local bands until 1969 he watched an old horror movie at a local theatre. The film was called "Black Sabbath" - the new group was born.
Their first album was released in 1970. Ozzy remained with the band for eight years and then reunited the group in July 1985 at the Live Aid Concert. In December 1999 Osbourne and Black Sabbath performed their last ever concerts in Birmingham. Ozzy released 10 records with Black Sabbath. Black Sabbath sold over 100 million records (to date) worldwide. Ozzy left the band and went solo in 1979.
His concerts are guaranteed sell. His first solo record Blizzard Of Ozz in 1981. The record quickly goes Quadruple Platinum. Ozzy and his wife/manager Sharon launch OZZfest in 1996, the first national music festival of its kind dedicated to hard rock music and breaking new artists. He won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2000 as a part of Black Sabbath for "Iron Man." He also received an MTV Movie Awards 2001 nomination for "Best Cameo" for his role in "Little Nicky."
Film director Penelope Spheeris shot a full-length documentary on OZZfest titled "We Sold Our Souls For Rock ’n’ Roll," that debuted at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. Ozzy appeared in Adam Sandler’s "Little Nicky."
