Nicole was called to testify before Sydney’s New South Wales state Supreme Court as it considers whether to award damages against the newspaper’s publisher. A jury has already found that the article defamed Mr Fawcett.
Wearing a grey skirt, white blouse and pale pink cardigan, the actress was mobbed by photographers and reporters when she arrived at the court.
In court Nicole said she became worried about a possible accident when her driver, John Manning, told her that she was being followed by Mr Fawcett and another driver during the alleged pursuit on January 23 2005.
"He said that they were driving crazy and that they had run red lights and jumped the median strip," Nicole told Justice Carolyn Simpson.
"I was frightened and I was worried there was going to be an accident."
Asked her state of mind during the chase, the star replied: "Really, really scared."
Nicole ’feared for her life in car chase’ - Nov 13 2007
Nicole Kidman screamed and feared for her life when she was being chased in her car by a photographer, her driver has told a court.
The photographer, Jamie Fawcett, is suing The Sun-Herald newspaper over an article that said he was Sydney’s most disliked freelance photographer and that he had caused "havoc" in the private life of the Oscar-winning Australian actress.
The newspaper’s publisher called her driver, John Manning, to give evidence in the case before the New South Wales state Supreme Court as it considers whether to award damages. A jury has already found that the Sun-Herald article defamed Fawcett.
Manning told the court that he had been driving Nicole to her parents’ Sydney home on January 23 2005, when Fawcett began pursuing them in an sports utility vehicle.
Manning, who said he had to swerve to avoid Fawcett, said Kidman was "screaming" and saying things like: "This has to stop. Call the police."
"She was fearing for her life and she said someone is going to get killed," Manning told the court.
Nicole: Keith and I are inseparable - Nov 13 2007
The Golden Compass star Nicole Kidman has said she and hubby Keith Urban are "inseparable", adding that she plans to join him on tour.
"Because I’ve been doing this film (shooting the Baz Luhrmann epic Australia), he has been coming to Australia regularly," she told USA Today.
"When I finish it, that’s when we come back and I go out (on the road). It’s a great way to see America. It’s a whole different way of life for me."
The 40-year-old added that she is committed to spending time with Keith.
"I have a new niece, I have a new marriage, we just bought an acreage in Tennessee, which we’re really happy to build a house on and spend some time doing that. I’m just not willing to give up my life with my man any more.
"He goes on tour and stuff, but otherwise, we’re basically inseparable."
And Nicole reveals that she never gets bored of watching her country star husband perform.
"I like seeing him do what he does. He’s so good at it. He can really play, and he can really sing. I’ll vouch for it," she said.

Throughout the 80s Nicole picked up several parts in features as wide ranging as the soap A Country Pactrice and drama Bangkok Hilton. However her breakthrough role came in 1989’s Dead Calm which she followed up with Days of Thunder and Far and Away. The two films also starred Tom Cruise who she fell in love with during filming. The pair were married in 1990 and the relationship undoubtedly helped give Nicole and extra push in to the limelight.
However 1995’s To Die For made critics sit up and take note of Nicole’s talent. Her tongue in cheek performance proved that far from being a trophy wife she was equal if not superior in acting talent to her husband. The pair appeared on film once more, in the controversial Eyes Wide Shut, before divorcing after ten years together. It was revealed that Nicole was pregnant at the time of their split. She later miscarried. However, the couple do have two adopted children, Connor and Isabella, and remain on good terms with one another.
Following her divorce Nicole appeared to approach her work with a new enthusiasm turning out tremendous performances in The Hours (for which she won the Best Actress Oscar), Moulin Rouge and The Others which brought about rumours of professional jealousy being behind her divorce. Further films, including Dogville, The Human Stain and Cold Mountain have been equally successful while a mistake or two was made in the comedy stakes with Bewitched and The Stepford Wives. Nicole is currently working on Fur, The Visiting and The Lady From Shanghai.
In addition to her movie success she has also managed to hit the UK’s top chart spot too, at Christmas no less. Following her vocals on Moulin Rouge she duetted with Robbie Williams on the, frankly not very good, Somethin’ Stupid. And as if that wasn’t enough to keep her busy she also works tirelessly for charity which, in part, earned her Australian’s highest civilian honour, Companion of The Order of Australia.
Post Tom Nicole has been linked with Lenny Kravitz, Jude Law and Adrien Brody but in 2006 she married Aussie country star Keith Urban with whom she is rumoured to be expecting a baby.
