Kate Lawler
- Profession: Big Brother Winner
- Place/Date of Birth: Beckenham, Kent, 07 May 2020
Biography
Born in Beckenham in Kent on May 7 1980, Kate Lawler began her career as an IT consultant and appeared in a hairdressing magazine and on the cover of a Ministry of Sound album, before getting her big television break in Big Brother.
Sporty Kate was asked to go in for an audition for Big Brother 2 after producers became suspicious that she was a journalist - they thought her audition tape, put together by an editor friend, was too glossy and professional looking. Once inside the house Kate was a clear winner from the start, pretty enough for the guys but with enough of a girl next door vibe to keep the lasses happy and, sure enough, she became the first female winner of the reality TV show with over 3m votes.
Following her release she quit her IT job and went in to TV and radio full time, first presenting a fitness video then going on to co-host the ill-fated breakfast show, Ri:se with Iain Lee and taking on a radio show on Capital FM.
After tabloid speculation over her health following pictures which featured her looking dangerously thin Kate has got back in to her love of sport, taking part in ITV’s Celebrity Wrestling and dating Real Madrid footballer Jonathan Woodgate. She splits her time between her luxury flat just outside Beckenham and Spain.
