George Michael has admitted it was his own stupid fault - Feb 28, 2020
George Michael has admitted his arrest over drugs charges was his "own stupid fault, as usual". The singer was held by police after being found slumped at the wheel of his car in London’s West End. In a statement, he said: "I have been through enough in 24 years of dealing with the media to know what I am in for from them this week." "Much of it will be inaccurate or simply untrue. I can handle that, it is my own stupid fault, as usual.
He added: "I was in possession of class C drugs and I have no complaints about the police who were professional throughout." Michael - who was also caught with a car boot full of sex toys, gay pornography and sex masks - was also initially held on suspicion of being unfit to drive, but was later de-arrested for the offence.
Meanwhile, the Wham star - who wrote his hit song ’Outside’ after being arrested for lewd conduct in a Los Angeles toilet in 1998 - revealed he won’ t be using his latest brush with the law for inspiration. He joked: "I promise I won’t make a record out of this one - even though it is tempting."
George Michael has been arrested - Feb 27, 2020
George Michael has been arrested on suspicion of possessing Class C drugs after he was found slumped at the wheel of a car in central London.
A member of the public alerted the police after catching sight of the singer, apparently unconscious, at the wheel of his Mercedes which was parked haphazardly near Hyde Park corner. Paramedics were called, but he did not visit hospital. He was arrested after police found an amount of cannabis and GHB - "liquid ecstasy" - in the car. He was initially arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive and taken to Hyde Park corner police station but was "de-arrested" following an examination by the station doctor. He will find out if he faces charges in a month, when the police have finished analysing the substances seized in his car.
Of course, this is not the first time that George Michael has had problems with John Law. In 1998 he was arrested after propositioning an undercover police officer in a public toilet in Beverly Hills, prompting outcry and a truly terrible music video. Some have voiced concerns about the mental and physical health of the singer, who has admitted to sometimes smoking up to 25 joints a day. Easy now, George.
Geri Halliwell asked George Michael to be her birthing partner - Jan 5, 2021
Pregnant Geri Halliwell has asked best friend George Michael to be her birthing partner if the father refuses to be involved. The former Spice Girl plans to fly to Los Angeles later this week to patch things up with the father, script writer Sacha Gervasi, 39, after weeks of rows. But if the pair fail to reconcile, Geri reportedly wants singer George to be by her side throughout her labour.
A friend of the singer told the Daily Star newspaper: "Geri has grown very close to George and his partner Kenny Goss and has already spoken to them both about going to pre-birthing classes with her should Sacha be unable to attend. "Geri will attend one of the best courses in West Hollywood but only time will tell whether Sacha can make it or not. "He has said he will look after Geri and their baby no matter what, but they have both had such a turbulent time of things and he has been inundated with work. "Geri has a lot to learn between now and when she gives birth in the spring and George and Kenny will do whatever they can to help."

Michael had hit after hit with Wham! - Club Tropicana, Wham Rap, Wake me Up Before You Go Go all remain classics, featuring on every best of the eighties compilation going. Whilst in Wham! George had solo success with one of his most famous hits, Careless Whisper.
When the mighty Wham! split in 1986 Michael found he had to prove himself to music critics who thought he was just another flash in the pan boy band reject. He did it easily with hit after hit, a duet with Aretha Franklin and a blue eyed soul boy image. In the nineties he kept the good work up, duetting with Elton John on Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me and in 1992 was announced to be one of the richest men in the UK thanks to incredible record sales.
But in the mid to late nineties things started to turn sour with George’s record label, Sony and despite producing one of the most successful albums of the decade with Older, he left Sony to create his own label - Aegean Records. A year later George hit the headlines after being arrested for committing ’lewd acts’ in a public toilet (you all know that story), forcing the singer to come out publicly.
Many thought it would be the end of his career, but the master of reinvention hit back with arguably his finest single to date, Outside. The video for his hit single featured the cheeky Greek dressed as a policeman gyrating about a disco-balled toilet, a great two fingers up to the press and police who had outed him. George has since played up his gayness, recently telling the world about his ’open relationship’ with boyfriend Kenny Goss and his ’Vanilla’ tastes in sex. In between revealing all he has become increasingly political, releasing slated single Freeeek!, an anti Iraq war song and using interviews to champion the causes close to his heart.
The ex Wham! star remains a force to be reckoned with even after announcing that he is bowing out of the music business to release his recordings online for free. Good news for skint George Michael fans, not so much for the industry.
