"I’m just in LA for this premiere," he said.

"We’re doing a few bits and pieces for HBO but it’s early days yet so we shall see. But it’s good to be here - I’m very excited."

Little Britain stepping into unknown - July 25 2007
David Walliams and Matt Lucas can’t wait to hit the US with their cult show Little Britain - because it’s virtually unheard of there.

Whenever the pair head outside in the UK, they have to endure fans yelling catchphrases like "yeah but no but" and "I’m a laydee".

And David, 35, said in a documentary about their Australian tour that he liked the thought of pastures new.

He said: "I quite like the idea of starting again. Very little is known of us in America."

The US television series will begin in the Autumn, featuring new and old characters.

And the comedy duo also revealed that there will definitely not be another Little Britain series for the BBC.

Matt, 33, said: "There comes a point in your life when you have to move on."

Little Britain Down Under airs on BBC One on Friday July 27.

Comic duo to tackle bobsleigh run? - June 22 2007
David Walliams and Matt Lucas are apparently hoping to tackle the terrifying Cresta Run.

The Little Britain comedians want to attempt the bobsleigh course - which includes speeds of up to 80 mph - for charity, says the Daily Star.

It would follow David’s swim across the channel for Sport Relief.

Matt has vowed to join his pal to raise money for the same cause, and the duo are hoping to complete the Swiss run later this year as part of a four-man team.

A source said: "David and Matt are keen on tackling something together for this worthy course and someone came up with the idea of the Cresta Run. It was a bit of a jokey suggestion, but the boys are deadly serious and definitely considering taking on the challenge. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but there have been talks.

"There are plenty of obstacles to overcome - not least getting them insured, but they are keen."

David signs up legendary comic - Jan 10 2007
David Walliams is apparently set to be one half of a surprising new comedy double act - with Ronnie Corbett.

The Little Britain star has signed up comic legend Ronnie for his next project, the Daily Star reports.

David will co-star in the series about a rest home and Ronnie, 76, will play an ageing lothario. Rob Brydon will play David’s brother in the show.

Ronnie, famous for being half of The Two Ronnies alongside Ronnie Barker, is quoted as saying: "My character is a real old charmer who is in his element being the only man in the place.

"David and Rob were kind enough to come up with the idea and I’m really looking forward to working on it."

The TV veteran also admitted he’d turned down a role in Little Britain.

"They asked me to take part in the last series as Roman Devere, ex-husband of Bubbles," he said.

"It was very sweet of them but I had to tell them that, at my age, rolling around in a sauna with a fat, naked lady was going a little too far."

Boy George and Walliams in TV spat - Dec 21 2006
A catfight has broken out between Little Britain star David Walliams and Boy George.

Sparks flew when the former Culture Club singer asked Walliams about his comedy partner Matt Lucas’s nuptials.

Biography

Born on August 20 1971 to an engineer and a lab technician, David Walliams (born Williams, he changed his name for equity purposes) was educated at Reigate Grammar School before heading to the University of Bristol to study Drama.  It was here that he met fellow funnyman Matt Lucas.

Following a few unnoticed stints on television Walliams hooked up with Lucas (who was making a name for himself as George Dawes alonside Vic Reeves) to create the hilarious, but little known, Rock Profile in which they sent up famous pop stars including Elton John, Robbie Williams and the BeeGees.  They also put together Sir Bernard’s Stately Homes and appeared in the Fat Les video for Vindaloo.

However it was Little Britain which would make Walliams a household name.  The show which saw him dressed as a ’rubbish transvestite’ and playing a camp ministerial aide would not only put Walliams on the comedy map but on the tabloid one too.  Despite being spotted with several sexy blondes, among them Abi Titmuss, Walliams’ sexuality is regularly questioned by the red tops.
