The Radio 1 DJ, who will be the first guest presenter on Big Brother’s Big Mouth, revealed that he thought it was the "irritating" housemates that made the Channel 4 show a must-see programme.

He told The Sun: "Every year I watch Big Brother and I hate everybody that goes in. I’m irritated by them from the start, they’re all wannabes.

"I love Big Brother - but as soon as they’re evicted I don’t care about them anymore, it’s finished."

The 33-year-old, who is replacing Russell Brand on the spin-off show, said: "I’m really looking forward to Big Mouth. I’ll look very similar to Russell so viewers will hardly notice the change."

He will host three shows starting from tonight at 11.05pm.

All the news and gossip from the house will be dissected and debated with a panel of experts including journalists, celebrities, fans, friends and relatives of the housemates.

Chris Moyles is getting a cool £50,000 to host The Friday Night Project - £20,000 more than other guests, it has been reported.

The Radio One DJ - whose breakfast show pulls in more than seven million listeners - will star alongside Justin lee Collins and Alan Carr on the Channel 4 show for one evening only.

A insider told The Sun: "Moyles is a big draw, everyone loves him - and we were prepared to pay whatever it took. Our guest stars normally get £30,000 but Moyles is worth more."

The 32-year-old was reportedly in talks with ITV execs about having his own show last year after his stint on X Factor.

The source added: "This is likely to be a good springboard for TV projects for Chris."

Other guests due to star as guest presenters on the star-studded show include Cilla Black and David Walliams.

Breakfast show host Chris Moyles has pulled in more than seven million listeners for the first time, figures out today show.

With 7.06 million fans, the self-styled "saviour of Radio 1" is around 800,000 listeners away from catching up with Terry Wogan, the nation’s favourite DJ.

Chris has gained 240,000 listeners during the last three months and added 744,000 since the same time last year.

A Radio 1 spokesman said: "We’re incredibly happy with how Chris has done."

Meanwhile, Terry Wogan’s Radio 2 breakfast show shed 100,000 listeners in the last quarter.

But with 7.88 million listeners, the veteran broadcaster still has 100,000 more fans than he did at the same time last year.

Radio 1 has 10.55 million listeners, up 290,000 on the last quarter.

Other figures show that Classic FM has seen a surge in the number of under-15s listening.

This year’s Sony UK Station of the Year winner has secured 6.03 million listeners, the highest since 2005.

It also has an additional 474,000 under-15 listeners in the last three months, a 52% increase on the last quarter but not a record for the station.

Under-15s are not included in the overall station figures, for the first quarter of 2007, released today by industry body Rajar.

With 919,000 listeners, Johnny Vaughan has reclaimed his crown as London’s top commercial breakfast show host.

Heart’s Jamie Theakston, who has 825,000 listeners, claimed the title when the last set of figures were released in February.
