The 16-year-old sister of US pop star Britney Spears is reportedly expecting a baby.

Jamie Lynn Spears, star of cable TV comedy series Zoey 101, told OK! magazine that she is pregnant and that the father is her long-term boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.

"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," she apparently said. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."

Jamie Lynn told the magazine she is 12 weeks pregnant and initially kept the news to herself when she discovered she was expecting from an at-home test and subsequent doctor visit.

Of premarital sex, Jamie Lynn reportedly said: "I definitely don’t think it’s something you should do; it’s better to wait.

"But I can’t be judgmental because it’s a position I put myself in."

After she found out from a doctor that she was pregnant, she reportedly said: "I took two weeks to myself where I didn’t tell anybody.

"Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone’s opinion affect my decision."

Jamie Lynn broke the news to her mother, Lynne, just before the Thanksgiving holiday on November 22, the magazine says.

"She was very upset because it wasn’t what she expected at all," Spears apparently added. "A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive."

Lynne Spears apparently said: "I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious."

Brit’s custody battle continues - Dec 19 2007
The custody fight between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline will go another round next year.

A court commissioner made no changes to the couple’s custody arrangements after a 90-minute hearing behind closed doors on Tuesday. He postponed a scheduled January hearing to February.

Neither Federline nor Spears, 26, were in court while their lawyers argued the case.

Spears and Federline have been wrangling for months over the custody of their sons, two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James.

Federline, 29, has temporary custody because Spears, who has limited visitation rights, has defied court orders.

Sorrell Trope, Spears’ lawyer, declined to comment after the hearing. Federline’s lawyer was still in court and not immediately available for comment.

Spears and Federline, who were married in 2004, have been in court repeatedly about custody since they split.

Their divorce was final in July.

Britney Spears has failed to appear at a scheduled meeting in her ongoing child custody dispute with former husband Kevin Federline, saying she did not feel well.

News media and paparazzi were waiting for the singer to arrive at attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan’s office.

But Kaplan, Federline’s attorney, said he had been told that Spears was not coming.

Kaplan said he was told Britney did not feel well and that she would give her court-ordered testimony at a later date.

Spears and Federline have been arguing for months over custody of their sons, two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James.
