Billie show to hit US? - Dec 18 2007
Billie Piper could be heading for stardom across the pond, as according to reports her latest TV hit Secret Diary Of A Call Girl has been snapped up by a US channel.
The steamy drama, which sees the Doctor Who star play a high class prostitute, will be shown on Showtime in America next summer.
The channel's entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt was quoted by Variety as saying: "It has a great sensibility to it. It's more emotional than you think it's going to be. It's sexy and funny, but there's other stuff going on."
And it seems that Bob didn't feel the need to give the ITV2 show a US makeover, saying he was captivated by Billie's Belle.
He said he didn't think US audiences would mind the British accent, adding: "We decided to bring it to Showtime as is."
The show, which won ITV2 its highest ratings this year, has been commissioned for a second series and will start filming next year.
Billie ’like bull in a china shop’ - Dec 14 2007
Singer turned actress Billie Piper has apparently revealed she constantly looks like she’s been beaten up.
But luckily this has everything to do with Billy’s self-confessed clumsiness.
The star told the Daily Express: "I’m like a bull in a china shop - so utterly clumsy."
And apparently the accident-prone star draws some odd looks from passers by who worry that her injuries could be more sinister.
"I am always covered in bruises and burns." the 25-year-old revealed.
"People look at me with worried and concerned expressions and I know they’re thinking, ’Where did she get those cuts and bruises?’ But it’s just that I’m unbelievably clumsy.
"Everyone finds it really sweet at first but after a while it becomes one of the most annoying things ever. I know I would find it really annoying."
Billie will reprise her role as Rose Tyler in Doctor Who next year.
Billie’s dramatic trips - Nov 27 2007
Actress Billie Piper says she finds wearing period costumes a struggle because she is so clumsy, it has been reported.
According to TV Times, the 25-year-old was always tripping over her long dresses and having accidents when working on the set of Philip Pullman’s drama, The Shadow in the North.
"The costumes are always a massive challenge to me because I’m so clumsy and unladylike," the star confessed.
"It’s really aggravating actually because I’m covered in bruises. Sometimes people look at me like they’re worried and concerned. My mum says, ’Where did you get that from?’ And I’m like, ’Nowhere, I’m just falling all over the place.’
"It happens all the time and everyone finds it sweet at first but then they think it’s one of the most annoying things ever."
The upcoming Christmas drama - which follows last year’s Ruby in the Smoke - sees Billie star as Victorian heroine Sally Lockhart.
But the actress may have to get used to the trials and tribulations of her restrictive costumes - there have been talks about adapting the final two books of the Sally Lockhart quartet.
Billie’s feeling broody - Oct 4 2007

The 25-year-old star, who is thought to be engaged to fellow actor Laurence Fox, admitted to Marie Claire magazine that maternal urges are starting to kick in.

Billie Piper was born September 22 1982 and propelled into stardom at the young age of 15.
Her fame began when she became the youngest female solo artist ever to debut at number one in the UK charts, with the feisty ’Because We Want To’ in the summer of 1998. Three months later she repeated the feat with the follow-up ’Girlfriend’, a slower R&B-tingle tune, which proved that this was one pop baby who could sing. In October 1998, the platinum-selling album ’Honey To The B’ took Billie’s career a step on and silenced the cynics who had said her success was sure to be short lived.
Throughout 1999 she took a step out of the limelight to work on her second album, whilst playing house with Five singer Ritchie Neville. Then in early 2000 Billie made her comeback with the single ’Day & Night’, an up-tempo song that hit the top of the charts.
Accompanying this comeback was a total image overhaul that offered up a far raunchy and overtly sexy individual. However, still in her late teens, the new image created quite a lot of press, and not all of it good, launching the debate as to whether it was suitable for young girls to copy her style.
Billie’s rock’n’roll lifestyle continued at great apace with a stalker, suspected drugs issues and her eventual marriage to, 16 years her senior, Chris Evans. The relationship that followed saw Billie’s demise from the public eye and the couple became more famous for their extreme partying, which as well as costing Chris his job at Virgin, also saw Billie flounder about with seemingly not much to do other than get drunk.
In 2003 she returned to her roots and polished her acting skills in the sunny climes of Los Angeles. On her return to the UK she quickly earned roles in television and film productions, her first being The Canterbury Tales that stunned viewers and changed their perception of her from a young pop princess to that of professional actress.
She later appeared in The Calcium Kid, Spirit Trap, Much Ado About Nothing, The Ruby in the Smoke and Mansfield Park, however it was her character Rose Tyler that awarded her the most acclaim.
In 2004 Billie signed to work on the new series of Doctor Who, as sidekick and companion of the good Doctor. She won Most Popular Actress category 2005 and 2006 for her work on the series, alongside Best Actress at the TV Quick and TV Choice Awards 2006 and Breakthrough Award at the Southbank Show Awards 2006, however on June 15, 2006, it was announced by the BBC that she was to depart in the final episode of the second series.
In October 2004 Billie and Chris began a trial separation that was to end in divorce, however the couple remain close friends, living just two houses away in the desirable Belsize Park area on London.
