""Let's be honest, Kentish Town is not particularly synonymous with salubrious drinking holes, and the main thoroughfare can sometimes be a hellish mix of 'ne'er do well's', beggars (and associated bodily functions) and congestion. Take a cheeky right off the main road into Leighton Road though, and things calm down a bit, until you come to the relative peace and calm of Torriano Avenue; still a busy thoroughfare, but without the social deprivation.
" Here can be found a gem of a local bar, the Torriano. Subtly decorated in plain grey and silver lettering, this is a cracking little bohemian cafe/bar, that doesn't actually strive to be a cafe-bar. Decor is minimal, with a beautiful original slate floor, quirky well-worn antique furniture and tasteful prints on the wall. Clientele is a nice mix of backpackers, locals young and old, and bohemian types who wouldn't look out of place in Primrose Hill.
" The beer is always as good as the welcome, and simple Panini sandwiches can be bought when sustenance is required to carry on drinking! The music is always good, from light jazzy-mellowness to reggae to Crowded House. I've never had to request they change the sounds! All in all, a great place for those who want to kick back, relax, and forget you're in London.
" Ahhhh...""
