Billed as ‘a tarted up boozer on Chalk Farm Road’, it pretty much does what it says on the tin. The bar itself is pretty compact, but there’s an upstairs room that hosts live music and a small garden with decking and a bit of green. The whole place has built itself up as quite the north London institution, kicking off its career with a delicious musical menu, which has kept the punters taste buds a tickle ever since.

"When a single file of revellers outtakes a post office’s dole queue then you know you are onto something. Though the wait is unbearably tedious, it is worth your timely patience.
The Lock Tavern has plenty to offer; even with London’s wintry climes there are portable heated lamps that you can trail by your tableside to munch or re-heat your pizza to.
As communal as any pub can be, the upper floor is where all the fun takes place. With every limited space being summoned to a dance floor, it can get pretty heated.
One notable aspect of The Lock Tavern is the comical jigs that are thrust upon you. Well, as they say if you can’t beat them, join them.

"I totally agree about the wait at the bar.. door staff have become more friendly though which is nice. Will be interesting to see what they pull out of the bag for New Years."

"friday and saturday nights can get a bit hectic in this place (not surprising seeing as they have the likes of andy wetherall, mylo, justice, four tet, simian mobile disco etc playing for free) but if you can get in a bit early and grab a table your in for a good night.
sundays however, are what this pub is good at. sink back in a couch, have a traditional roast with a bloody mary while reading the newspapers, then go upstairs for more djs and accoustic sets.
however, be prepared to wait for toilets, food and service as this place is always busy and the staff (although very pretty) usually quite hungover.
lovely boozer in all."
