I love Little Bay - it's not that they serve the 'best' food in London, but it's just the whole feel of the experience. The restaurant in Belsize Park is eclectic to say the least, with ladders leading up to mezzanine tables perched in the eaves, baroque style murals on the walls, a true 'shabby' chic deco and all manner of kitsch ornamentals. What is excellent about the food at Little Bay is that it's consistently fair, the prices are ridiculously cheap (dine before 7pm for £5.25) and dishes are always served with a smile. Why go buy a sandwich from the supermarket for £3 when for just £5.25 you can sit down and be served chicken breast stuffed with minted lamb mince, served on a bed of creamed potato and plum jus? Starters are a bargain at £2.95 and they have built up quite a reputation for their plump, rich pigs cheeks on mash - if you fancy a bit of a tapas style chow down then selecting 3-4 starters each is a good option. Cocktails follow a similar formula as food, they're not 'to die for' but if you stick to the basics you're in very safe territory and again, they're a bargain at half the price.

The place to come in the Hill for late drinks, music and affordable art, of course. With exhibitions up on the walls, a late license, an interior that can absorb late night parties and reasonable drink prices, why would you ever bother straying out of SE24?

A fine gastro destination in SE24, the Prince Regent has a big, old wooden clad interior, the walls are adorned with mirrors and pictures, whilst a dozen or so tables outside serve summer drinkers perfectly. An independent dining room serves up a menu of typical gastro fare, such as bangers and mash, whilst an ‘adults only’ room upstairs is welcome relief from family shenanigans during the weekend shift – what a blooming good idea.
