’To eat well in England you should have breakfast three times a day.’

Ok, so in W Somerset Maugham’s day three breakfasts a day would have combated the problem of the famous bad food of Britain.  But even in 2007 when glorious restaurants are ten a penny, we all have access to scrumptious ingredients and England is among the leaders of the pack on the international food scene most of us wouldn’t pass the opportunity to scoff bacon and eggs three times a day at least once a week.

We’ve long been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but still many of us do little more than grab a muffin and a coffee on our way in to the office, snack on an apple while we pull on our shoes, or worse, skip brekkie altogether.  The organisers of Farmhouse Breakfast Week are determined that we should recognise the importance of the first meal of the day and, whether it’s a full English or a bowl of crunchy muesli, make time to sit down and digestive before facing the world.

For seven years Farmhouse Breakfast Week has had the task of promoting the nation’s breakfast food stuffs and helping us to realise that there’s so much more to breakfast than lining your stomach.  Nutrition and taste are equally important in our breakfast picks and with the range of recipes (some from celeb chefs such as Nick Nairns) on the FBW website you’ll be eating like a king every morning, from the Sunday only Traditional Breakfast the ideal after a night out Smoked Salmon and Egg Brunch or the any time you like Homemade Granola or Cheese and Bacon Muffins.

Breakfasters all over the country are encouraged to get involved with the week.  Maybe you’d like to run a competition to find your area’s best producer, organise a school breakfast club or hold a community breakfast or perhaps you’d prefer to challenge yourself and your friends to break the record for the world’s largest bowl of porridge. 

Whatever you choose to do just make sure you do it on a full stomach…
