Stephen Goldsmith, assistant manager of The Fusilier and Firkin
A local lad who dreams of being the new Jimi Hendrix, Steven Goldsmith currently has his work cut out helping manage the busy Fusilier and Firkin in Camden. An aspiring guitarist with his own band The Sweet Greens, he can fully appreciate the effort put in by the range of bands that appear every day at this venue.
Who are you and where are you at this stage in your career?
My name is Stephen Goldsmith and I have been working at the Fusilier and Firkin where I am the assistant manager for just over two years.
What has been your favourite record of 2002?
Chop Suey by System of A Down
How would describe your musical tastes and what do you think it says about you?
I listen to Metal and Rock'n'Roll but I like the Blues a lot as well. I guess I like the Blues because sometimes I just want to feel relaxed and mellow.
What was the first record you bought?
The Red Album by The Beatles.
What is the most recent record you bought?
Iowa by Slipknot.
Where do you go hear good music in London?
Ain't Nothing But blues bar off Regent Street is probably my favourite but sometimes I might nip down the road to the Devonshire Arms.
Who are your musical icons?
Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon.
If you could have been on stage/behind the decks at one gig which would it have been?
Probably when Hendrix was playing at Woodstock.
What's the best night out you've had recently?
I went to Ain't Nothin But blues bar with some mates a few weeks ago and woke up the next morning in Brighton! Needless to say, I can't remember the bands that were on.
If you could throw the biggest party what would it be like?
Umm.....well it wouldn't be legal that's for sure.
Who do you think is the best London act at the moment?
Nobody comes to mind at the moment.
